  • The SCG

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the SCG now after we have completed our games there for the year?

Obviously the viewing at any oval isn’t as good as a rectangular ground but wow the boys have really made it a fortress and a home.

Have we warmed up to the old girl yet as supporter base?

Personally I’ve always liked the place it as it’s where I watched gfs and test matches as a kid so it’s kind of sentimental to me.

I do believe it offers us a real home ground advantage that doesn’t exist at the sfs due to the shape.

Great for the team Trash for the fans... i know multiple people who refuse to buy memberships because of it... but cant deny the team has embraced it.

It has been way better this year than I expected. From a television perspective they seem to be avoiding 3 until 6pm or thereabouts. I havn't noticed any long shadows on the field.

Worked really well for the team. Not so much for the fans but they are reaping the rewards now.

If the new stadium fell through (unlikely), I'd be happy to stay there. It gives us a distinct advantage, maybe worth at least 2 premiership points over a season.

Viewing's no good, but you get used to it. Other facilities are good.

I prefer it to the SFS. Always preferred the high altitude view - have been sitting on L4 of the Bradman, but sat on L5 of the Brewongle on Saturday.

The Ground level seats are a bit crappy though.

Enjoyed sitting in the upper stand of Victor Trumper the last few weeks - closer to the field at the end, higher perspective, more facilities (bars, food, toilets) and can see the big screen

Will be downgrading to there from O'Reilly next year

great ground but the price of food is ridiculous. 9.20 a beer no wonder we cant get the crowds in. I hope the food outlets go broke then they might do something about it

Have been lucky enough to have a boss who is a SCG member so have only sat in the members this year & it's fantastic. I grew up watching the Chooks playing at the SCG in all the semi's & GF's but only ever sat in the bob stand which is now at North Sydney Oval. The last time I attended the SCG before this year was in 1987 (poor old Trewella, he'll be happy if we get over them). Have never sat in any of the stands at the SCG because it has all been rebuilt since then.

I drive past the hole in the ground where the SFS used to be 4 times a day. I keep hearing that the 729 million budget for the rebuild is not something that those who have put tenders in are willing to do in its proposed rebuild format. They have all put in a cheaper design for that price range. The state government couldn't wait to get it demolished- now what???

Where in the members do you sit Mickie ? I think the top tier of the ladies close to the front is the best - but the food and bars are best in the noble.

Aren’t the next two GFs being played at the SCG? Are any of ANZ’s tennants moving in too or are they off to Bankwest?

It’s an absolute fortress for us. I hope they never build next door.
