I think a lot of you guys massively over rate the players in the 20's.. Particularly the younger posters here.. I have been watching these lower graders for over 20 years and very few make it and I am talking even about players who dominate in the lower grades.. Talk of guys like Littlejohn who is severely limited at that level has me shaking my head.. the gap between NYC and First Grade is huge.. You either have play making ability or you don't and he doesn't.. It isn't something you can learn.. Otherwise as a ball runner he is neither quick enough or elusive enough to cut it.....

Anasta is too slow to be an effective 5/8, he doesn't have a step or a short passing game and his short kicking game is rubbish. He has a good long kicking/passing game and his spiral bombs trouble catchers when he hits em right. His best position is as a ball playing lock forward imo.
This is his last year but a building year for the club so let's not waste it giving Braith his bloody swansong wearing the number 6.
Chook.

Would be the slowest centre in the history of the game, and he has proven he has neither the work ethic or heart to play in the pack. He is also a decidedly average No. 6 and if the club had an stones they would have put him out to pasture and not let him continually upset the balance of the team.

In an ideal world, Anasta would be patted on the back, and playing golf next year. I'd have Mortimer and Pearce in the halves, Friend at hooker and Mitchell on the bench.
Unfortunately, we live in a Roosters reality, and Anasta will be in the starting side. Like most on here, I reckon having him at 5/8 beats playing one forward down and leaving out talented youth. So Mortimer will fall victim to the Anasta phenomenon, and warm the bench.

Best 5/8 in the world = Carney??? You obviously didn't watch him in 2011. He wasn't even the best 5/8 at the Roosters, let alone his State or his country.
NCSupporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

admittedly i didnt watch too much NSW cup this year and probably saw bits and pieces of mortimer in it a grand total of twice and based on that id tend to agree with most of you (his performaces were nothing to get too excited about). That said, the NSW cup team of the year was recently announced and whilst he didnt take out 5/8 of the year, he came a close second or third according to the official press release which to me suggests that he didnt do as badly as some on here seem to think at that level. we should reserve judgement as I have said all along until he plays a few games for us.
