Unless Mortimer plays first grade we will not get to see LJ develop as a five-eighth which is a shame because he did play very well there this season despite a very poor game in the semi.

Anasta should definitely play 6 this season but I don't want to discount Littlejohn getting a chance in 2013 if he improves his decision making in 2012. I know it's only under 20's and most people discount YouTube videos since the Williamson fiasco but if you type Jack Littlejohn into google videos it will bring up a highlights package of the year just to show those who didn't watch much or any 20s this year an idea of his strengths. Sorry no link I'm posting on my phone.
there is definitely a lot to like about littlejohn. as a 6 he looks very capable but back in the centres is where i think he could take his game to the next level. problem for us is that if he does in fact move back to the centres, he will be behind a few for a shot at first grade. great footwork, speed, skills and a good footy brain. one to hang on to without a doubt.

I think a lot of you guys massively over rate the players in the 20's.. Particularly the younger posters here.. I have been watching these lower graders for over 20 years and very few make it and I am talking even about players who dominate in the lower grades.. Talk of guys like Littlejohn who is severely limited at that level has me shaking my head.. the gap between NYC and First Grade is huge.. You either have play making ability or you don't and he doesn't.. It isn't something you can learn.. Otherwise as a ball runner he is neither quick enough or elusive enough to cut it..

Anasta is too slow to be an effective 5/8, he doesn't have a step or a short passing game and his short kicking game is rubbish. He has a good long kicking/passing game and his spiral bombs trouble catchers when he hits em right. His best position is as a ball playing lock forward imo.

This is his last year but a building year for the club so let's not waste it giving Braith his bloody swansong wearing the number 6.

        Chook.

Would be the slowest centre in the history of the game, and he has proven he has neither the work ethic or heart to play in the pack. He is also a decidedly average No. 6 and if the club had an stones they would have put him out to pasture and not let him continually upset the balance of the team.

In an ideal world, Anasta would be patted on the back, and playing golf next year. I'd have Mortimer and Pearce in the halves, Friend at hooker and Mitchell on the bench.

Unfortunately, we live in a Roosters reality, and Anasta will be in the starting side. Like most on here, I reckon having him at 5/8 beats playing one forward down and leaving out talented youth. So Mortimer will fall victim to the Anasta phenomenon, and warm the bench.
We got rid of perhaps the world's best five eighth to keep the pseudo master of golf, what hope would Morts have of snatching the No.6 after the perennially most over-rated player has just snatched the same jersey from Carney.

Carney wasn't within the top 10 5/8s on 2011 form!

Let both Mortimer and Anasta have a trail match and then they should decide.

Braith didn't snatch the No. 6 from Carney, the drunken idiot handed it to him on a platter with this behaviour and attitude.

Best 5/8 in the world = Carney??? You obviously didn't watch him in 2011. He wasn't even the best 5/8 at the Roosters, let alone his State or his country.

I voted for Mortimer because I'd like to see this (hopefully) hungry young guy do well and be a real addition to our side. We need something fresh after all the stink of the past 12 months.

Braith only cause we have better options in the backrow than him and I think Mortimer is a dud who should only be playing when Pearce is on origin duty so:

                        Regular:
                        6. Anasta
                        7. Pearce

                        Origin (No Pearce):
                        6. Anasta
                        7. Friend
                        9. Mitchell
                        14. Mortimer

I watched a few games of Morts this year and even with the slow tempo of NSW cup, he is a long way behind Anasta.

I hope he proves me wrong of course but....

admittedly i didnt watch too much NSW cup this year and probably saw bits and pieces of mortimer in it a grand total of twice and based on that id tend to agree with most of you (his performaces were nothing to get too excited about). That said, the NSW cup team of the year was recently announced and whilst he didnt take out 5/8 of the year, he came a close second or third according to the official press release which to me suggests that he didnt do as badly as some on here seem to think at that level. we should reserve judgement as I have said all along until he plays a few games for us.
