I’ve seen snippets before of that google box show and thought it was funny plus one of the people that comment on the show I used to work with them years ago so when there was nothing I liked on Tele last night I decided to watch it and what did they have? The GF! Ok so let’s see what they say. Most were disappointed with the outcome of the underdog not winning but a not so nice lady said after Tedesco scored ‘ That’s cheating...!’ FFS! That’s how they were influenced by the call on the night with all the histeria about being ripped off! Ok I agree! Channel Nine’s commentary started all this crap with their premature assessment and the rest of the idiots just followed. Thank goodness there were some sane experts who stood up for the bigger picture.

My wife thinks I'm a psycho (that's ok, she came to the GF with me) for this, but I emailed Webster of the SMH with my thoughts about his section's negative coverage the day after the GF.

I said some not nice words to him about him and his mate Knox (whose email I couldn't access prior to the GF about his gutter piece) as well as the other journos' pieces. To his credit he did reply and didn't use the insulting language I did. He gave links to several positive articles and I thanked him for those. So I backed off a little.

He actually said he had written so many positive stories about the roosters over the years that he's been accused of being a roosters fan. "But mention a dubious call late in the game, and apparently I'm a hater. Choose whatever narrative you want".

      Pretty cute, eh?

Having seen the ongoing hysterical barrage of negative articles in the paper since then, my initial assessment that the SMH sports staff are a bunch of biased wankers with a bad case of butt hurt has been confirmed.

And in other news, Roosters are back to back champions.

People hate out of jealousy and respect. Pre 2000, no one gave a shi'ite about the NE Patriots. After winning 6 superbowls they are the most hated team by a million miles. Butthurt envy.

Yeah but it wasn't until Tuesday that I finally heard a journo/commentator actually talk some sense ..Graeme Hughes/Peter Tunks on 2SM Talking Sport ...got to say I never listened to them before, but they have won me over ...they were the only balanced, fair and rational commentators I heard. They had Bill Harrigan on, he was also fair in his assessment of the game and decisions. Other than that, the bias commentators crap was endless and the idiotic sheeple just followed !

I reckon they'd flip that on its head, as apparently climate change is the cause of all things bad in the world. So likely CC has caused this evil bad wicked entity the Sydney Roosters to evolve.

i havnt as yet dared to write it but now i will, threepeat! starting off with a world club challenge in sydney, the boys can have a holiday camp in nz or south coast then onto the swcg to confirm our world champions title! we'd normally call this game a trial? maybe one more trial game then into souths!

Hate is a wasted emotion . Half the people you hate don't know and the other half don't care . We went back to back and after a threepeat in 2020 ,it will most likely not happen for another quarter of a century .

Great thread. It really is scary how the media corrupts, misleads and outright lies. Fake news indeed! The power of the media should never be underestimated. It all started with the hysterical and biased channel nine commentary, and I’m not just referring to post game. They were barracking for the raiders from the kick off. Every 50/50 call against the raiders was met with outrage. Any 50/50 against the roosters was either ignored or brushed over briefly. As a roosters supporter I feel helpless because we’re in the minority with all the ‘neutrals’ barracking for the slime machine. They (the media, including the outraged masses on social media) didn’t get their fairytale so have decided to write an alternative script - one that derides and belittles the great b2b achievement of our great club. Jealousy is such an ugly trait and I will not let them spoil this fantastic achievement by this magnificent club! Go Easts!!!

This from Matt Cleary (theroar) I thought was OK. Some of the comments from the Rooster haters were quite pathetic though - but not surprising!

The NRL's currently seeking feedback on the state of the game. Haven't read the scope but I'm hoping to register my view that it's disappointing that after a farcical VFL final we can't sell one of the best GFs in history as being just that. Instead, our paid commentators and promoters called the whole thing a fukking scam and glossed over how it was an awesome GF.

I hope that once the raw emotions calm down, the NRL community can reflect a bit more deeply and realise we're selling ourselves short by saying the contest was anything less than brilliant. For context, Canberra attracts a lot of people from Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne who never watch the NRL. Having Canberra fixated on rugby league is pretty special.

IMO the 'experts' were wrong to tell Canberra that the game lacks integrity because this blows them away. At my regular cafe the day after, a random Vietnamese lady (limited English, first game she's ever watched) was talking about how she's not gonna watch it again because it's all rigged. This was really disappointing because new fans should be taught to enjoy the full 80 minutes and appreciate the key moments. Instead of buying a membership and going to a few games in 2020, I reckon a lot of these fair weather fans are gonna think the sport's rubbish and go watch VFL instead. Coz you know... despite Hawthorn winning every year and the exception being a Melbourne-based team beating Sydney 100-0... the game has integrity. When honestly... good luck finding a VFL season where a team from a city of ~350,000 has gotten within 6 points of winning a premiership, by drafting a bunch of unorthodox poms and getting a bunch of hasbeens to perform. It's a farce that we can't sell this properly!

ISM the NRL survey is just a tad over pathetic. It scractches the surface but doesn't give an opportunity to say what we really think about the game. It needed more questions like

"IS Craig Bellamy a blight on the game ?"
"Is Phil Gould's head up his arse 24x7 or only when on the Tv ?

I caught up with some friends the other day, that are Raiders supporters. You know what between us it was the funniest conversation I have had about the GF

Mark Levy on Macquarie Sports loves his "sombrero" or "brown paper bags" comments.

I used to listen to their morning program but have stopped now. It was a good change from the dope Daley and the dickhead Kennedy.

Podcasts on the way to work for me going forward.

Imagine someone asked Thurston just after winning the GF for the Cowboys if he thought the win was a bit hollow as it came from Golden Point and Brisbane never got a true possession to win the game? He would be filthy
