  • Two incidents in the 78th minute in the GF ...

... highlight the penalties the Roosters don't get.

    1. wighton hits a slipping Tedesco in the head
    2. horsburgh walks back through the ruck

IMHO, either could have been a penalty to the Roosters.

Before anyone jumps down my throat and says "so what, the Roosters won, why am I bringing this up," bare with me for a moment. Put those two incidents alongside Keary's legs being cleared out and a couple of other incidents in the GF and they add up to five penalties the Roosters could have received, but didn't. So, it can be true that the Roosters have been good enough in their three most recent premierships to overcome not receiving penalties whilst the unconscious bias against the Roosters has been in effect.

There's one other thing I want to point out that hasn't got much, if any, notice; the Roosters played 67 minutes of the GF with one less player on the bench due to Aubo's injury. Given the amount of defence they had to do, I think that win against the faiders was a remarkable achievement and no amount of sour grapes will tarnish the win for me, ever.

Go you mighty mighty Roosters. The snipes from my colleagues at work only make me laugh. What a team, what a club, what a time to be a Roosters supporter.

That's a good and insightful post Lone Rooster, I agree. Unfortunately, you will pretty much not hear that point about the 67 minutes raised anywhere else, including most media outlets. We haven't received much in the way of recognition about Cooper being off the field for 10 minutes and being able to hold the Raiders out for all that time. The most important thing is that we know and, in the end, that's all that matters!

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

I'm over worrying about what the media said about the GF, but you're right about Wighton's hit on Teddy. 100% it's a penalty, the way they normally police contact with the head these days. Sure, Teddy falls into it, but W hits his head with his shoulder/upper arm.

The hit on Teddy, annoyed me the Ch9 commentary with Gus & Joey …"nothing wrong there he is falling so lets just get on with it".
Yet earlier in the semis, Zane caught a player high who was falling in the tackle ..he was penalised and the Ch9 commentary was …."yes he was falling in the tackle but you must have a duty of care to not hit a player high even if he is falling" WTF !

I remember that. I think there may have been a play obscuring the vision in the replay they were showing in the CH9 broadcast, but at least for me I could see the contact on Wighton's head. Should have been a penalty. No matter though, as we won the game.

Yeah absolutely correct- no better example than JWH /Liam Knight incident. I didn't think Wighton's tackle on Teddy was worthy of a penalty- its just the inconsistencies. Another eg was vs Storm Jerome Hughes coming back onside stops Manu ( i think ) from scoring a certain try- blatant as they come. No sin-bin let alone penalty try....yet Cronk ends up in the bin for a split second early tackle in GF.

As far as Horsboroughs going through the ruck- any other time besides 2 minutes left in a GF and its a 100% penalty. At least we can say 2019 was a year when the refs were consistent about being inconsistent.

It was Teddy, and he ended up being held up over the line, with Hughes heavily involved in the tackle. If that's not a professional foul, in a try-scoring situation, I'm a pink elephant.

Here’s another one for the whingers! The first penalty given in the second half went to the raiders. Rapana brings the ball from a kick. He gets tackled in his 40 by a few chooks including I believe it was Angus. Angus is lying in front of the tackled Rapana and Angus facing his own goal is trying to roll away but Rapana as cagey as he is, gets up and plants the ball on Angus leg and knocks on and the ref blows a penalty to the raiders. Piggy back out #1... then 15 mins or so later is the defining penalty that leads to the Cronk sin bin... so let’s all shed a tear for Sticky’s gf woes!

Yeah so true Hawkeye they present shit as fact just to suit their narrative and wants. They often argue one way one week then the other the next depending on what outcome they are favouring - it’s bloody annoying and somehow insulting that they feel they can get away with it - but **** they do and the brainless public generally jump on board with whatever these goons say.

that slime team has been coached very well to cheat at any opportunity, to gain advantage through any means possible, no team doing that is worthy of being a grand final winner, I don't know if its the pommie influence or sticky?

I personally didn't think the Tedesco hit was that bad, however I take you're point, the way commentators gloss over certain incidents to suit their narrative shits me no end. The whole Soliola legs, trainer incident is a perfect example.

Exactly ! Ingrained in their psyche . Did you see Croker trying to strip the ball from Teddy , repeatedly, after he scored . It really was quite pathetic ... but coached to cheat whenever possible .lol . The best team won .

                              There was plenty more.

The SST “strip” overruling by Cummins.

The penalty against Crichton when Rapana the cheat put the ball on his back as he was playing it.

Morris being pushed back ingoal when we got a penalty for exactly the same thing in the first half.

The crusher on Morris by Hodgson in the last ten minutes.

                              The skinny ten.

We got worse calls than they did.
