I hope he does very well. I'm sure there would have been many challenges growing up the son of a great player who has faced his own demons over the years. Jackson has talent, just needed to mature a bit and be able to use it more sensibly.

Hastings named #7 for England

Hastings is still rated by Manly fans and I wondered why, then again his stint here was marred by the Pearce saga, no Maloney and a younger Nykorima so he practically got thrown in the deep end having to lead a team with no real experience, and that might have gone to his head which clashed with others.

Would love you have seen Jarred pick him up and throw him against the wall.
Dirty little grommit.

Yep he was ordinary when with us and manly - looks like he has sorted his shit out and playing to the ability many good judges said he had now - well done to him I say and I’m sure his old man is proud of that and happy as a result.
It looks like Jackson is getting it right now. Good luck to him.FVCK CANCER

Various players are eligible for various countries. As a kid you have no control over this and NFI where your career will take you. If I were in his position I'd stick my hand up for every rep team that I'm eligible for and see how it goes.
A lot of islanders (for example) will have a bit of Tongan, Samoan, Fijian, Maori and Australian indigenous in them and they end up playing for whatever makes the most sense. If we've said Hastings, Austin and Coote aren't rep grade and they carve up elsewhere then I don't really care. Hastings got attacked for kicking to his winger (for example) and Joey smashed him for that even though a try was scored. If they beat us with a try off a kick to the winger then go figure...

While you probably don't want national teams to become franchises, picking whoever they want regardless of background etc, you don't want rules that make it impossible to have a competitive international comp.

[QUOTE=Random Rooster;n807877]I've seen Jackson play about half a dozen full games and he was sensational. Very creative in attack, pinpoint kicking game and rock solid defender-at times even inspirational.
I just don't get how Aussies like him,Blake Austin,Lachlan Coote and previously Chris Heighington get selected to play for Great Britain because of a grandparents place of birth. These guys are only available because they weren't considered good enough to make rep teams in Australia. Ask any of them at the start of their careers who would they choose to play for if given the chance between the Kangaroos and the GB Lions we all know what the answer would be. Its actually demeaning to the GB jersey and even more so for the "authentic" GB players who make way for the Aussies. The grandparent/parent rule should only serve to bolster Tonga,Samoa,Fiji etc etc
Aussies have been guilty of it too. Meninga selecting Radradra for that test match was ridiculous. James Tamou played his first junior footy in NZ before joining the Roosters- he's
The selection criteria lines have been blurred in all forms of rep football now for a long time.
The result has seen test football suffer , how could hastings and coote play with the same passion as a English man against australia.
Simple, they shouldn't be picked, same goes for the coach.
