  • Toops back?????

Just heard a rumour that Toops has agreed to join us for the 2012 season...

Has anyone else heard the same??

Would we want him back, or is his best behind him???

    No way!!

    1. Past it now.
    2. We have too many backrowers!!
    3. I'd rather take Gardner, Mills or Townsend off the Sharks.

Wow I hope that isn't true. Toops never fulfilled his potential IMO. Always promised a lot but never delivered on a consistent basis. We already have FPN who is like that so I can't imagine why we would want Toops back.

Another backrower?... Either over hyped or massive under performer

If he's cheap he would be handy. I never really thought the Sharks used him correctly. Tupou is a much better player hitting an edge and looking to get an offload. The Sharks tried to turn him into some kind of Gallen-like workhorse which he will never be. He's best coming off the bench and being used in short sharp bursts.

No point to sign him. We have Nuuausala, Takarangi, Guerra that already provide what he does and possibly Leilua in the future too.
The only good thing about signing him would be that he is experienced. If it's the last year for Braith and Mini, we are going to be a very inexperienced team.

this would not surprise me - i know for a fact that cronulla have been doing their best to offload him and with them now having secured carney and with them also in the hunt to get greg bird back, the prospects of toops leaving only increase. its also a known fact that he had no intention of leaving when he went to the sharks to start with.

We definitely would have money to offer him and he plays an SBW type role on the left edge - footwork, offload, ball skills but i too think that he wouldnt be worth it unless it were for very good value (ie sharkies still paying part of his salary ala mortimer or him taking a reduced salary). what i will say is that he has had a couple of average years, he would be back at his favourite club and have a bit to prove. lets not forget his form in his last season with us. if he finds some of his best form again, he could be the missing cog that gives our attack a bit of unpredictability and flair back particularly when you throw in guerra who will only get better, leilua and maubs who was one of our best attacking player in 2010 and missed all of this year.

like mortimer i will reserve judgement until he pulls on a jumper if he happens to come at all. that said, dont underestimate smith, elliot and taylor. blokes like zeb taia he managed to turn into world beaters and those types of player have no where near the natural ability of toops. we will have to wait and see

Wade Graham is the guy i'd love to snatch from them. Wade has got tonnes of potential and we saw some of that in 2011.
Can play either five-eight or lock effectively.

That fits with the prediction of an announcement of a new halfback (Finch).

Toops has a lot of class and I was sorry to lose him.

But we only have so many backrow spots....Id certainly prefer him back than paying top dollar for someone like Munny Bill.

                        Up Up Cronulla

Sticky signed Cutbo and Tuuupes supposedly for 300 plus grand a year each didnt he?

now you can have either of them for 80 a year!

one of the Roosters few good trades getting rid of Tuupes and the Stick

This is the same guy who stood and watched when that souths turd faalongo whacked anasta in the mouth and did nothing about it. No thanks. He went with Ricky who promised him his Aussie jumper.

                            Toops is past tense..

Our pack looks good,so he would be surplus to requirements..

Toops went to the Sharks for the money and he can stay there and bloody earn it.

No thanks to having him back, older, slower and more busted than he was when he left. I'd rather take our chances on the younguns coming through.
