He is a freak player but has gone backwards the second half of the year.

Wherever he goes the coach will need him to refocus on his footy and get rid of the other noises around him which won't be easy going by where his head is currently at. He will also have a lot more pressure as his new club's supporters will have massive expectations from him. A couple of bad games and he will cop a troll frenzy.

As for whether he is right for Souths all depends on where he plays, whether they get the Burgess cap fixed up and whether Walker leaves. IMO they are better off with a replacement for Burgess and should be going after someone like Fifita or Frizell. If they only have room for one high profile player and they choose Trell then I can't see their current forwards less the Burgii matching it with the big teams. And Trell won't win Souths games with the other crap players that would be around him. He will be a Ferrari moving from a Ferrari showroom to a Ferrari moving to a Datsun junk yard.

But at least he will be able to provide for his family.

Mitchell was made to look far better than he actually is by Keary, Cordner, Toups and Tedesco who set up many of his tries. He was dropped from origin don’t forget and although he did play brilliant at times, we won 2 premierships through very hard work of the entire team. Without these players around him he is going to struggle to not go missing and not be lazy. He went missing often and half the season he was quite ordinary. I think the club weren’t that impressed with his effort so are not going to great lengths to keep him and we have enough money now with coups gone to give him what he is demanding but I think nick and Trent have rightfully decided that he’s simply not worth it and that we can get more bang for our buck than from a player who only puts in when it suits him.

I had concerns we would lose Latrell next year if he went to another club.
I think he will end up at Souths and the sad thing is that they will probably only have to pay him 800k.
We were never going to keep everyone, I trust our club as they know the players, we can only guess at Latrell's attitude and what he wanted. I did find it strange that the club released a statement, I think it reflects how badly the meeting went. The only time I remember something similar is when our centre went too Rugby (western Force) but having a mind blank over his name.
I actually wish we kept Zane but he may be able to get a much better offer from another club so good luck to him.
We should now be able to keep everyone else so still have a great team for next year and beyond.

You can imagine Souths feel the same. Especially after Inglis retired, they think let’s get the closest thing to the guy who got them a premiership after 40 years.

If he goes, I just hope one of the young guns we have (Smith, Kepaoa) can improve enough to handle winning a third straight premiership.

My 2c worth: "Providing for your family" as he as quoted means a lot more than just money, and he should take that into consideration but likely won't.

Most of us at one point would have been stuck working in a dead-end job, or for a business that is not performing well, and would more than understand the negative impact it has on your family life.

Working with a great team or business can make your overall life so much better.

It’s the worst kept secret in the nrl, he will go to bunnies and play FB. They got one back on us after we snared Keary and Angus so we can’t be too bitter. It’s really disappointing to see how Mitchell has turned out though, we did everything for him and more and he still wants to show not one bit of loyalty.

Lol at any club that pays Latrell 1mil plus per season to play fullback or 5/8th....they are going to be very disappointed in the return they get. If they arent competitive instantly, he will be the size of Owen Craigie within 3 years
