I reckon flanno for kicking duties. He wasn’t too bad of a kicker for sharks, and Johnson said they don’t have a kicking coach. So with Jason Taylor showing him the way surely it will lift his percentage a fair bit.

As for latrell. Thanks for the memories. Brilliant player when he wants to be. But if latrell thinks he is worth a million, teddy is worth 3. Heck whighton is worth 1.5.

Latrell can ask whatever he wants- he is under no obligation to fit into what the Roosters think he is worth. Similarly the Roosters aren't under any obligation to pay him over what they think he is worth. Obviously the 2 parties are on different pages- so be it. Im sad that it looks like Latrell will leave, as i was with Ferguson,Maloney and especially RTS, but that's the way it works out. I really think we should thank Latrell for what he has done and wish him the best.....instead of being spiteful....after all he was a big part of the 2018 & 19 premierships.

Now the best part of supporting this club is there is always a new wave of top notch young players coming through (like Verrills)....so that's something that is exciting and to look forward to! Bring on 2020!!

Had to laugh at social media last couple of days. When the Dogs supposedly pulled out of the race for Latrell it was like " Nick has produced the brown paper bags and he will be staying where he is". Now after todays news its all " No loyalty at that club, first Mitchell Pearce and now Latrell". Easier to blame the Roosters for how shit the club they support is than to blame the incompetent management of their own club.

We retained Manu which is the best option for the club, going forward.Mitchell seems to think he has the aura of Arthur Beetson, he needs to get his head together, and stop believing he is gods gift to rugby league, his effort in the season ending rep games was more of the same, going in and out of the game, without really exerting himself to any great standard.

Why did we feel the need to release a statement?

Pretty classless from the club, we are usually above that kind of petty shit.

Keep it in house. Don't feed the media any more. The statement serves no purpose.

i think Latrells people were attempting to start a bidding war and this was Nicks way of saying "yeaah naah"

You make an interesting point - I wonder what could have happened to make the club do that. Maybe his dalliance with Souths was the catalyst?

Well, I am pleased that they did. We always feel let down when we don't get clear communication from the club on these sort of things. In the absence of the statement released by the club, the media and Latrell's people will create their own version of the 'truth'. At least now we know.

I’m glad they released a statement and I am very proud of our club. Just about every other club would get into a bidding war and kill their cap. That’s why we are heading for three in a row and they are making up the numbers.

Cos Weidler found out and announced it on the CH9 news. The club statement came out shortly after that. Obviously they felt it was better to have an official announcement out there instead of Weidler rumours.

This reminds me of when Melbourne had to shed a player from their ‘big 4’ of Smith, Slater, Inglis and Cronk and it was Inglis that was the player to leave.

Very disappointed if it happens, which is looking likely considering the club statement.
                      ..it’ll be interesting to see

If shedding Latrell and Zane means we get to keep TKO, Manu, Jared and Verrils, then it’s a great move.

Once the decision was made Latrell wasn't part of the long term future of course the club had to put out a statement.

The club did the right thing by informing the fans what was going on.

It's not unknown for clubs to take offers off the table as a negotiating tactic. I must admit I thought it a bit odd to come out with the statement. Perhaps the meeting went badly and the club sees no chance of Latrell playing here even in 2020, or perhaps the meeting was ambiguous and the club is saying 'mate, we love you, and want you to stay for unders, but you need to realise that if you don't accept our terms you will be playing somewhere else.'

Earlier in the season Lats had a BLINDER against Tigers at the SCG and i remember after that game the coverage talking up how much Latrell should be paid and how he was "The Best player on the planet" i think he went home and watched the game and bought into the hype of the $$$ talk because since that game he went cold and only showed glimpses for the rest of the season... his heart hasnt been with the Roosters for awhile now and it has become all about the money for him (which is totally fine) but its not what Robbo is trying to build in our club... its a FACT players have taken pay cuts to keep the team together and that attitude and soul has created out of this world success. I wish him all the luck in the world but he is no longer a fit for our club.

                                Good point.

Everyone complains that they are kept in the dark.

BTW for me all roads lead to Souffs for him. I will be staggered if he doesn't end up there. And I think it was a long play by them. Getting that Rose guy to mess with his head at the start of the season and it has been all down hill from there.
