Biiingo. A good thing about Nick is that he knows how business works, he's worked out a reasonable price for Latrell and he's made it clear we're not a fallback option. We've also got the salary cap to worry about and I mean... I dunno who else is up for renewal, but a lot of other players (many of whom will be on poor man's salaries of ~$200-$300k despite form that could command $500k+ at other clubs). Latrell's not the only one who deserves a pay bump and he's already quite well off compared to most! Maubs probably wouldn't mind an extra hundred grand or two before retirement if he's gonna be starting in the back row while Crichton's coming off the bench, for example.

If we lose him then just like RTS, we'll have put a conpetitive offer and given him a chance to explore. IMO this is way better than (for example) Manly's approach of locking down the Trbo brothers + DCE for life. With one single reservation... the cap always goes up and what seems like big $$$ today can very quickly become a bargain (e.g. $700k a year for DCE... for life... ain't bad... so long as he's in the kinda form he had this season [which he hasn't for the past few]).

Sigh... I hope we can find a way to keep him.

If I remember correctly Fittler [and Gould?] went off like Saturn rockets after SOO 1 Blues' loss in 2019, blaming Latrell, a rookie, for the loss?
It was Wighton who threw the dumb pass that was intercepted?

If Fittler did that to me I probably wouldn't have given him an interview after the GF either.

Ok silly idea for a replacement for Mitchell at centre but one that many here would love it to happen as a form of redemption. The player is still a fan saying earlier this year he always watches Roosters game to “see how the boys are doing, cuz...” and I’m sure he would want to return to a successful club to win again... RTS! Give him $1,000,000 cause he never has a day off!

We can get a more consistent and hard working centre on a long term contract for half the price

You'd think Nick and the club would have enough contacts to make that statement and spread the message behind the scenes though.

I think part of being a loyal supporter is understanding that sometimes in the best interests of the club there is a lot of sensitive information the public and media shouldn't be privy to.

I understand where you are coming from as a fan I would love the club to layout their recruitment and retention plan for 2021 but my selfish desires should weigh less than the needs of the club to go out and sucesfully execute that recruitment and retention plan which they wouldn't be able to do if they continually leaked details of where we are at with every rumour that gets written about us.

The club did the right thing by informing the fans what was going on.
I'm sure they've made decisions on the futures of lots of players, plenty who are currently being speculated in the media at the moment. Do we deserve to know that information too?

Let's not pretend like this was the club finally opening up to transparency... maybe I'm wrong and there will be plenty more announcements to come but I doubt it.

mrs b.b tells me she read an article where Latrell's father said that when he came to Sydney from the country to play rugby league he played for Souths.
He said he 'got in with the wrong crowd', drinking etc, and that it ruined his career.
He said that when 'the two boys', Latrell and brother, were coming to Sydney to play rugby league he told them to 'stay away from Redfern', and that's why they stayed with an aunty at Seven Hills.

It's a pity the situation has turned out this way.

It seems Latrell is in it purely for the money.

It also seems The Roosters are in it purely for excellence.

Anyone blaming Robbo or Nick for not resigning Mitchell has to be nuts! Correct me if I’m wrong but I can’t recall the club ever putting out a statement during a negotiation phase saying that the offer was withdrawn due to A player wanting to ‘explore his options...’ This to seems that Nick & Robbo have had enough with Mitchell’s demands which were most likely ridiculous and Nick wants to let the world know we are not going to pay a cent more than what he’s on now. Nick & Robbo have bent over backwards for him and they see no point in doing anymore.

The other part of the statement is that it says ‘he is still contracted till 2020...’ On the DT it claims that the Roosters would be willing to letting him go early if all the ‘ financial settlement is satisfactory’. I’m thinking that we will only let him go early if he can prove that he’s going elsewhere for the money he wants and NOT because he wants to be with his pal at Souffs for the same money offered because it would be a big insult to us if he turns out playing for them on an offer he rejected from us. All speculations from me of course.

At the end of the day, Mitchell’s attitude is questionable. It’s not entirely his fault cause his only 22 and has had people advising him in every which way what he should do, sometimes for the wrong reason. He will go wherever and start by being happy to be there and then when he can’t find Keary on his inside, he will disappear time and time again like when Luke was off. The marquee tag will be a heavy one and let’s see how many headlines about his form there are and how many trips he makes to Taree, to get away. He wants to be The Man (2.0) now, well he’ll be making his own bed now.

I fully endorse what the club has done up to now and how they’ll follow through with it. We’ll be more than fine.

So, our club has decided that Latrell is not part of its future plans, and it's only early Nov 2019.
                          That's ridiculous too!

What happened to 'my door is always open'?

Latrell is one of our club's biggest stars, biggest point scorers, biggest attractions...pin up boy for the fans.
                          Now it's all over. Baaah!
Lucky the 10,000 members signed up before the door was slammed shut.
Good luck getting 2000 fans to our games now.

What if, Latrell changes his mind next week, and wants to sign with us for $800,000...we're just going to hang up on him, tell him to go away?

I don't fully endorse what the Cub has done...I think it's been far too hasty.

Good kid being completely misguided and mismanaged by Mundine and Rushton.

Really is a shame, he has given us great memories and been a big part of our success. Always thought he would be one of those great iconic Roosters and although I am concerned for his future at another club I wish him all the best and hope he achieves everything he wants in the future.

Also, I dont think anyone should underestimate the effect Keary has had on his career to date.

He'll go from my favourite player to my most hated player if he puts on a Souths jersey.

All that medical retirement bullshiit they've been going on with, all to snare our boy.
