  • The writing was on the wall for me way back when he chose that silly political gimmick of a match rather than playing for a world championship team in the clash for World's best.

Potential to be our greatest ever centre but in a yr or two's time will be as popular on here as Justin Hodges.

In 2021 our team will be ripped a new one but i didn't expect too much damage in 2020. Turns out our success is biting hard almost immediately.

Good thing is that i don't really care too much now...if u get good times expect the bad too soon arrive...that's the modern game. Luckily we cashed in this time on our great era...unlike the early 2000s

    • The whole thing about Latrell going to Souths May sound ‘romantic’ by some and even if they have more money if they can use Surgess retirement, they actually need a forward more of the caliber of Surgess. Unless they can ask Latrell to play in the forwards, I don’t think Bennett is that senile to recognise that Latrell isn’t that good at fullback or 5/8 otherwise he’ll find himself in the centres playing opposite Joey!

Agreed 100%, and I would be so happy with that. We all make mistakes and the whole saga might be the making of Latrell. Lets hope.

        • No way can the relationship be good next year , this is the real world and there will be animosity between Latrell and the senior members , happens in team sports all the time and if the underlying problem isn't removed it can and will tear team harmony apart.
Sorry but for the best of the team , Latrell must go.

          • Didn’t this sort of circus play out with Manly and DCE all those years ago? I think Manly withdrew their offer, DCE pretended to sign with the GC and then he backflipped and ended back at Manly.

I’m glad the club has decided not to be a part of this current circus. If Latrell wants to stay a chook he can come back to the club and ask rather than the club waiting around for his answer. It will be such a shame if he leaves as he has so much talent. But one player is not bigger than the club.

mate settle down.. you are making it sound like we are due for the spoon in the next 2 years. We have learnt from our mistakes in the past. Look at melbourne man.. they have lost legendary players -GI, folau, geyer, cronk, slater etc and are always knocking on the door. I feel like we can finally match them and be the same. We arent souths. We are the elite.

Yeah but it cost manly 10million over 8 years to get him back.

                • Ive said it before snd i will say it again. Latrell needs the roosters more than the roosters need latrell
I have a feeling if he leaves he will only play another 5 or 6 years.
i would also be surprised if he goes to souths. His immediate famiky are not souths supporters after the way they treated his father

Try and be serious and you will look stupid

I think we are in a great position. While players like Cronk (who will apart of our great coaching staff next year), JWH, Aubusson, Morris are nearing/have retirement, we have great up and comers to fill their shoes such as Tupounuia, Flanagan, Lam (maybe), Verills the Butchers, Collins, Smith and Faammausili. Mitchell maybe leaving as well as Tets, but with the amount of players who will be departing in the next few years we will have another war chest on our hands to resign and buy, ensuring we will for much longer be at the top. And that's before considering the players currently in our squad such as Tedesco, Keary, Tupou, Cordner, Taukeiaho, Manu, Radley and Liu. I'm excited for the future. 2020/21 will be a very interesting period for us.

Their priority right now is buying some forwards, I don't think Latrell will be in that equation or at least he won't be signed first

                      • Let's not cut our nose off to spite our face. If LM wants to stay and play for 800k, let's keep him. In a way, it would be a bit of a slap in the face to all our rivals and he could have a blockbuster next season.
We lost a few of those close games when Maloney left with no recognised goalkicker. It could be the difference between a top 4 finish or somewhere back in the pack. I thought he was gone for all money over the last couple of days. Now something tells me it's not as cut and dry and hopefully he comes around and tells Nick and Robbo that his future lies at the Chooks.

                        • Getting some late mail from the locals at The Golden Sheaf tonight....

Richardson advised Latrell to stay at the Roosters because he knows that if he doesn't it frees up some big bucks to have a crack at David Fifita. Souths are waiting on the Sam Burgess retirement money to be taken out of the salary cap so they can go hard for Fifita. It makes sense- i mean Souths have Cam Murray, Damien Cook....and not much else in the forward pack- they will be desperate for Fifita. The flip side is the Roosters generally don't spend up big on ready made forwards- besides Crichton and SBW theres been no other high priced forward signed from another club in 7 years.

In the end Robbo has pulled the offer and would be planning now how it will be best spent. Latrell wants to play fullback and wants 1 million a year- neither are possible at the Roosters. All parties need to move on

                          • Whilst it might be sorted by then but the first test of 2020 and where he plays us whether he goes on the end of season training camp at the end of November.

Still a few weeks away but interested to see if unsigned by anyone else whether he goes or not.

I am happy to leave that decision to the club. I think something pretty drastic must have happened for them to withdraw the offer publicly like that. I don't think I have seen the likes of it before.

                              • DT today;

                                Roosters; Unwanted.

Surely the Club is joking...he was the leading point scrorer in the NRL.
He's a vital part of our 'lethal left side'.

The club seems bent out of shape that Latrell wants to do the best for himself...but it does the best for itself all the time...wouldn't re-sign Tetevano, one of our best forwards/defenders., even though he wanted to stay.

Anyone who thinks we can win the comp next year without Latrell needs to have a serious re-think.
