Odd. The guy's on fukking ~$550 a year, he's currently negotiating a circa $1m a year deal and his current boss owns hundreds of car dealerships. He can afford a Merc... trust me!

Also frankly... the cheaper Mercs are pretty shyte? I've driven + riden in the back of my in-law's E-Class in Vietnam multiple times. The seatbelts in the back choke you (not adjustable), I was cramped as fark (compared to our Subaru SUV, which is a smaller car), the ride/finish reflects the fact it's a cheapo build (manufactured in SE Asia) and IMO a luxury model of a Japanese made Subaru/Toyota is a better car than all but the fancier Benz models. You notice it driving around Vietnam on dodgy roads... the suspension and refinement just aren't 'luxury car' standard IMO (which combined by the fact the back seatbelt's choking you is really shyte). Didn't used to be the case! As a kid Mum had a 1970's, German-made Benz 600. Every holiday she'd throw us in the back and we'd drive to WA or Uluru.... crazy stuff like that and the ride was superb.

Anyway I ramble. How is this even a story? Latrell can drive pretty well any car he likes! Since when was he short of cash? :P

If i was on the sort of money these guys are i would salary sacrifice a top line car and contribute as much is allowed to Super etc....fark giving the tax man more than you have to

Not sure of the content of the article but the phone is apparently ringing of the hook and yet no deal. With his position now untenable at the Roosters, what's the likelihood that he signs else where for similar money to what we originally offered?

Rooster_6 We're not viewing it the same way. Your perspective seems to be based on the premise that releasing a statement was "petty shit" that "serves no purpose". I disagree. The club had their reasons and clearly decided to get on the front foot on this occasion. I don't claim to know their reasons, though any of us can theorise. What I have indicated is that I appreciate the transparent communication.

Quite how any of that reflects on my loyalty as a supporter, my understanding about the proper handling of sensitive information or otherwise belies "selfish desires" that are primary to the "needs of the club" has got me miffed. I'm sure you'll advise me in due course. Can't wait.

I didn't question your loyalty as a supporter, simply stated my opinion on what I think that looks like when as a supporter group we demand more access and more knowledge. Those selfish desires can be detrimental. It's an opinion, debate it if you like but don't be so easily offended, with all due respect I don't know you from a bar of soap I would never intend to question your integrity. I'm quite open to the fact that I may be wrong on this as from my experiences public knowledge isn't always a positive, take the latest statement for example it's turned into an absolute shit show and turned plenty of our supporters on one of our own players.

Although I don't believe this was ever about the club being transparent or getting on the front foot. It's an emotional release, possibly out of frustration intending to send a message to someone.

I just remember at the fans event the day after the GF he walked through the crowd looking as if he was just too cool for school. My mate who attended the players party told me all the players were great and approachable accept for Latrell who was too up himself.
