Good luck to the bloke if he signs with the Tigers. I'll always appreciate the special moments he had with the club. Nothing can take those memories away.

I doubt the big money contract will buy him the happiness and stability he thinks it will, but it's his decision and he's the one who has to live with it.

This opens up an opportunity at the Chooks for a young bloke to take his place and become a part of a great team and club over the next few years.

Given that we're not paying him 800k next year, it works out at more than 500k over the three years. If you want to retire when you're thirty, that's an incentive. And if you want to play fullback, that's not happening with us.

Hope so. If we can keep everyone else and maybe jag a good value new signing, then we've done alright. We've also got some good players coming off contract next Nov 1, and if we can keep them we're going to be competitive for a while yet.

As great a player he was for us in moments of brilliance for 95% of the games he was missing in action. Any player who is discussing his future with opposition representatives or is thinking about his options in Grand Final week, when the Roosters offered him a more than fair sum for his services after nursing him to the player he is , as far as I am concerned good riddance and goodbye.

You might be right, but I'm not sure. I figure if we'd offered him the upgrade the contract wouldn't have been billed as a 1.6m two year contract.

Agreed. I believe the club has handled this very well.

Agree that it would be way more preferable to see him at the Tigers then Souths any day of the week. It will be a crying shame to see him leave under such circumstances, but the club had to stick to its principles and well proven processes. We can hopefully now focus on securing JWH and SST, as well as some of our younger talent. I think our short to medium term future is still looking bright, and we will get over this hurdle.
