Yes they have a couple of quality props but like I said, the competition they play in is reserve grade standard.

Are you disappointed we won? I think you would have been happy to sacrifice the win just so you could come on here and bag me.
I agree... it was all on their terms and you'd think we'd put cricket scores on them in Australia, mid-season. However at the same time:
      - They're only a few games into their season
      - They had a bunch of key injuries (which hits them harder than it hits us coz their backups are of a much lower grade than ours)
      - We were full strength but for Cords and we'll get a rude shock if we play like that early in 2020 (hint - we won't win NRL games like that)
      - Most of the penalties were valid... I don't think Sitili's like-break was a shepherd (is that a penalty though or just a change of possession?) other than that call and the late consolation try... you can't go swinging your palm at a guy's chin in the tackle then blame the ref... again, we'll see JWH and Radley put on report and spending time on the sideline for that sort of shyte...
      - We missed 3 conversions with out #1 kicker... again... you can't blame the refs for stuff like that

It's just a trial but it was our first insight into where the team's at and yeah... there's work to be done. I'd say:
      - Our forwards look good (although need to control their aggression)
      - Crichton/Sitili at centre is still a WIP (assuming we don't sign J-Moz) but as Freddy said pre-match the defence is what's important coz if you let a James Roberts past you, you're farked. IMO both offer good defence in a slightly different, in ways trickier defensive position.
      - It dawned upon me that Manu wants to be the world's best centre rather than a FB... masterstroke that we kept him and not Latrell!!! Never saw it in that light...
      - Flanno looked decent (no mistakes and one particularly good tackle that stopped the Saints from getting outta their 20 when they looked very excited). His conversions were the only issue but they were all on target... just slight tweaking needed to the angle/power. IMO he woulda spent the past few months focussing on his organisational skills (within our team) rather than his conversion kicking. That's way more important and has paid off... his kicking will certainly improve with a bit of confidence/tweaking! In the meanwhile, SST can kick long and straight so it's good to have that option

That St Helens team could beat many NRL sides on their day.
Laurie Daley said during the week, the top super league team would struggle to make the NRL top 8.

I have never seen "summary" and Ism22 in the same sentence before.

                • I thought it was a reasonable performance

I don't think st Helens are a bottom 4 nrl team. No way.

I thought Flanagan was good, that ball to manu ? was nice. I think his goal kicking will improve.

thought the forwards - we're great. set and Collins.

jake may be in for a big season.

my major concern is still this bloody centre position, I have always maintained that second rowers can fill in there, not play whole seasons there. this needs to be fixed pronto.

                  • Waiting to watch it at 12.30 on Fox.
A couple of people mentioned Robbo's animation in the box & his fist pumps.
Robbo is so the right man for the Roosters & the game of Rugby League itself, it is his passion BIG TIME. He is inspired by the history of the game the old dart, England the nostalgia of the North of England the rainy cold muddy grounds & big English forwards playing it rough. For him to take his/our team over to England which I know he loves doing & to watch them win in England is the reason for his increased passionate demeanor.
I dont think any other coach in the NRL has the deep down passion & love for the game as Robbo.
The Roosters dont have to worry about Robbo ever coaching another NRL side but what they do have to worry about is the NRL coming to him & asking him to become the NRL CEO

                    • Nothing spectacular as someone said like our first trial..Im happy enough with the result and plenty of work to be done.
Manu ,Keary Taki ,Teddy and JWH immense players . Thought Collins went alright now is starting to show some thing. Cooper Flanagan was good and will get better.

                        • What a top first half game of footy.
Fark the Chooks are good at defence. Radley & Friend were outstanding.

                          • Well done to the boys , very proud of the win under adversity , First game , massive lopsided penalty count , rain , cold , and average referee.
Well done to St Helens some of there forwards would defiantly perform over here.
Hope none of the injuries are serious .
                            Go The Roosters

                            • What an achievement. Back to Back Premiers & Back to Back World Champions. We are all so lucky being around to watch the Roosters be the most successful that they have ever been in 112 years in our life time. That 26 year drought of Premierships was half my life of watching the Chooks, I was around in 74 & 75 which were good times, successful but I was a kid so it didnt mean as much. To be in my early 50's now & witness the Roosters being the strongest & best that they have ever been in their history is amazing. My only wish is that my dad & pop were around now to witness this with me.

We all love the Roosters but that guy takes it to another level. To dedicate your life to where the Roosters are playing week to week makes him a 1 percenter & the Roosters number 1 supporter.
How much would it cost him a year to go to England, Townsville, WA, SA, Gosford, Wollongong, NZ, Brisbane, Newcastle, Gold Coast?
The club should do a doco on him.
