Is our playing roster finalized for 2012?

There has been a lot of talk about us picking up a major signing or two for next season. However, as time goes on that is now appearing extremely unlikely.

As such I have two questions;

1. Do you think the roster is finalized or will there be one or more additions to the squad?

2. If the squad is finalized why did we let Jason Ryles go?

I would think so, though midseason transfers may happen depending on performance?

That was from the rooster's facebook page. This probably means that the squad is finalised. Also, we got rid of Ryles for Mortimer.

Well they have hardly been the only ones. I don't necessarily mean a superstar.

I also think there is room under the cap. The problem we have though is that unlike in years gone by we now find it very difficult to attract star players. I do believe they were having a massive go at SBW to get him here for 2012 and missed out. Whether the Dogs said no or SBW said no, I dont know, but knowing Politis as we do, I reckon he would have had a red hot crack at him. We also have the problem that Brian Smith is not necessarily a coach that players want to bust their guts or take pay cuts to get here and play for. I dont really think we will get anyone else for next year. Nothing of any great quality anyway. I think we will be aiming for 6,7, 8th place tbh.

We'll have to wait til 2013.

Will there be another signing? this close to the start of the pre season, probably not.

More likely they will try and build a war chest for a big name signing for 2013.

I mean with Ryles, he was on a 2yr contract with a 1 yr option, since he hasn't taken that option, we pay nothing for 2012, so there is a bit of money there.

Will we take on SBW, cooper or both? i am starting to think cooper will be a risk, too hot and cold, only option would be as a Fullback too erratic in the halves. SBW though, he has great utility value, blays in the backs and forwards, but comes with some baggage, the way he left the dogs, his contract situation with the dogs and the fact he has been playing union......Still has the shoulder charge though.
