• Play for anyone but them in 2020 eg Tigpies
• Find a one year contract or take a sabbatical
• Play for them in 2021

Him going to the rabble, while I would not be at all surprised, would be too dire to contemplate. I would rather hold on to him for another year than release him straight to them. Perhaps that comes across as being spiteful however, when it comes to them, so be it. If he goes to them, and they do well against us next season onwards, you would never ever hear the end of it. We can't help 2021 onwards, but we sure can help 2020.
We need to keep him away from other clubs, especially one in particular, until we get our team sorted out post-Cronk.
