But as great as Latrell is, he's still a centre.

The Storm lost Folau and GI but seemed to do just fine because they realised that on the field it's the spine and the forward pack that will define your success by far the most.

The Cowboys won a Grand Final a few years ago with a centre pairing of Justin O'Neill & Kane Linnett. Ewww...

The likes of Ricky Leutele, Kirsome Auva'a and Dane Nielsen have also won Premierships in the past few years.

So a potential centre pairing of Joey Manu - whose easily the 2nd best centre in the game - and a young gun like Billy Smith still shapes up as the best in the league.

Beyond that we still have the best coach, best player, best winger, best half/5-8, best 2nd rower, arguably two best props, a superstar young lock, and two brilliant hookers, so yeah... it's time to stop worrying about what we've lost and remember what we've got.
I didn’t think Manu played all that well this year after his backend of 18 and the one off match v latrell, was expecting a much more “latrell” type of year for him, but I can’t remember too many standout moments like you can easily for latrell. That the difference when latrell is so much better than the “next best”

    • Manu seems to build as a season progresses which is, quite frankly, brilliant.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

I think that when we look at how Manu played in 2018 in comparison to 2019 we have to take into account at the changes he faced as well as what Robbo had him do. For starters he was not next to Fergo, a player he got so used to being next with at a time that he flourished and this year he had at least 3 different players next to him so that would have impacted his decisions. He also stepped into fullback to replace Teddy when he was out... plus Robbo at times had him coming inside and across more than what I’ve seen him before. Manu did the job that Robbo asked of him and though we saw less of his brilliance from 2018, his value for the side was still there. Same with Victor. Having to play dummy half cost him a chance to be on the SOO but he was still valuable for the team.

Valuable and safe no doubt, looked good at fullback if we need to have somebody fill in.

just thought we’d see him dominate like he can, hopefully next year, he can step out of latrells shadow.

I’m sure Joey would be aiming to be a consistent performer from round 1.

And to think that Robbo didn’t have confidence in Latrell for one game that he had to resort to someone with less experience at FB and let’s see how long the vermin can hold their nerve with Latrell at fullback.

As for Manu being in Latrells shadow, you know many people prefer Manu than Latrell for consistency and less hassles.

                  Agree. Valid point.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Did you really think so? He had a good game against a very poor Bulldogs team than a very average game against a reserve grade Cowboys team where a simple dropped kick ultimately cost us the game. I would prefer Brett Morris at fullback.

As an emergency, he played well that game at a pinch, with probably not much prep, but yeah, it was the dogs.

i Would take latrell every time if it was a choice I had to make though.

Could be seen as a positive sign, but we probably can't read too much into it.

                              • Jan 1st has arrived.
I haven't seen anything that shows me
Latell is not still a Rooster.
If he's still here next... Monday? he reports for training.
Hopefully it will be with the first grade squad.
We need him playing left centre if we are to win the comp this year.
We need last year's team in place as far as possible.
Surely if we searched high and low,
walked the streets, looked in the teplephone book...we could find a third party sponsor for him.
                                $200,000 pa.
                                $3,846 per week.
Cheap marketing for a big co.
