Latrell Mitchell believes the circus surrounding his playing future is driven by the media. The truth is it’s driven by Roosters chairman Nick Politis no longer wanting him at the club.

It’s an intriguing stalemate between a headstrong 22-year-old and a 77-year-old businessman The Australian Financial Review says has a personal wealth of $1.23 billion.

Politis wanted Mitchell off the club’s books by January 1 but that didn’t happen. Instead, the international centre must front training on January 6 or he will be in breach of contract.

It’s clear he doesn’t want to play for Michael Maguire at the Wests Tigers, otherwise he would have snapped up the big money on offer.

Souths remain a possibility, but how any contract would look — and for what value — depends on a range of factors, including when Titans middle forward Jai Arrow joins them and if other players are released. Rabbitohs winger Dane Gagai has no desire to leave, despite reports about him being shopped to other clubs.
So Webster now trying to cover up his BS story that the Roosters had a deadline of 1st January 2020.
The number of crap Roosters articles this blokes has written. He is up there with Hooper with no credibility.

If Latrell turns up for training on Monday then that means he is with the Roosters for 2020.
If he turns up for training on Monday with the intention of leaving in a few weeks then he is even dumber than I thought he was.

      • Legally, Latrel will have to turn up on Monday, otherwise it's a breach of contract. After that it's anyone's guess. I'd say a statement from the club will follow.

One way or another, we should all know something in a few days. The circus will finally be over.

Not true in regards to your first statement.

          • Latrell will 100% be at training this Monday, but it will be at Redfern Oval. His signing will be announced this afternoon after 2pm.

Do you see it as a good or bad signing Johnny?
Which position do you think he’ll play?

It’s a brilliant signing. Their biggest since Inglis. Latrell is a superstar.

Honestly, I am not sure. I have always been torn over Mitchell.

In all interviews he comes across as a really nice level headed guy, but then you hear whispers of various issues.
There is no doubt he is an incredible talent and bordering on untouchable when his mind is in the right place, whether or not Souths will be the club to unlock him and keep him consistent remains to be see.

I think inevitably he will end up at fullback, but may start in the centres to build fitness as he has had a bit of an unsettled off season.

Whichever way it goes I wish him well because he seems like a nice kid and is highly exciting to watch.

Most welcome. You ask a dumb question you get an obvious answer.

Adam will play centre if Mitchell is at #1.

Bennett thinks the world of him and he will be there somewhere.

                              • What has been the driver behind this decision? Money? Full-Back? Indigenous Club? Could it be something else?

The Roosters are a club that rarely lose players they want to keep. Latrell was on top of the world...why let him go without a fight?

Most players seem to love playing for the club and bleed for it...Latrell obviously doesn't. He seemed disinterested most of the season. Was it always his plan to eventually play for Souths?

I believe that behind the scenes (probably when he made a handshake deal with Souths around the same time as the Tigers Game) there was a massive falling out with Latrell and the rest of the team.

Watch the post-game celebrations on Grand Final night., Latrell spends very little time with the rest of the team.
