Premiership betting is a lottery at the best of times. All it takes is one long term injury to a key player at a club and the odds are blown out of the water.

Parra and the Vermin are always talked up in the betting odds. Usually disappoint as well. How the Broncs will fare without Lockyer is unknonw. They'd best hope Wallace stays healthy. As for the Sharks, they will need the other 15 clubs to default if they ever want to win a premershiop. Carney may be a talent when he chooses to play properly, but he can only do so much.

I reckon we will probably manage a spot in the bottom half of the 8 next year. Remember we only finished 6 at the end of the regular 2010 season as well, but managed a GF. And we tipped to finish down the bottom in 2010 as well, after the horrors of 2009.

    NC
Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

We will be top 4 not due to our strengths but due to all other teams weaknesses.

Sea Eagles - I can't see them doing as well as this year next year, but I also can't see them dropping out of the 8. They will probably make the finals and have an early exit. Top 8.
Storm - As long as Slater, Cronk and Smith stay healthy they will be a top 4 threat. Will go deep in the finals. Top 8.
Knights - A building year for Bennett. Will most likely be a threat in 2013. Top 8.
Warriors - They were the Eels/Roosters of the 2011 finals. New coach, I see them missing out. Bottom 8.
Tigers - The Moltzen saga has overshadowed much of the off-season. New halfback, new fullback. However I can't see them missing out on the 8. Top 8.
Broncos - Inexperience in the 1, 6 and 9. You know a team is terrible when Wallace is calling the shots. Bottom 8.
Dragons - Bennett leaving will see this team drop even further than last year. Inexperienced coach. Controversy began immediately with Moltzen etc. Also made several signings which you know Bennett would not have made. Bottom 8.
Bulldogs - Buying a premiership for the 3rd year in a row. Nothing home-grown, not even the coach. Crap spine. If Ennis gets injured again this is my pick for the spoon. Bottom 8.
Rabbitohs - Souffs are Souffs. Bottom 8 for sure, lost their best player Sandud and now that Cronulla have Carney they have the worst halves pairing in the comp. Bottom 8.
Cowboys - Most likely will make the top 8 if Thurston gets injured but they are still most definitely a one-man team. Top 8.
Eels - Will improve on recent years. Finally have a decent 7, and if Hayne fires they could be dark horses for the 8.
Roosters - All the controversial players have been cleaned out and this is the closest year that Smith has the players that he wants. Youth dominates our team lead by Minichiello and Anasta. Solid halves and hooker, Mini is in his twilight years but is still handy. Top 8.
Raiders - Another team that will improve on last year. Will likely be around the fringe of the 8.
Titans - Their Bulldogs-esque signing spree won't help them. Their issues last year: an aging Prince and dud five-eighths and fullbacks still have not been addressed, as well as a young hooker. Won't make the 8, despite having an origin backrow. Bottom 8.
Panthers - A potential top 8 team. Cleary will play with this team's youth and during the latter half of the year they will bolt towards the top 8.
Sharks - Team still looks like rubbish to me. Decent forward pack, 1 good half and a decent fullback. Still on the improve but not enough to get in the 8.

So in conclusion my top 7:
Cowboys, Knights, Panthers, Roosters, Sea Eagles, Storm, Tigers

        Competing for 8th Place:
        Eels, Raiders

        Bottom 7:
Broncos, Bulldogs, Cronulla, Dragons, Rabbitohs, Titans, Warriors

I'm going along, thinking yeah, this is pretty fair so far, and then I get to this.

You can't be honest and openly critical about every other team in the comp and then claim we have solid halves, and a handy fullback, and that Mini and Anasta lead the team.

It is possible, even probable, that Braith leads the team off the field. It is possible too that Minichiello is a senior figure.

It is not at all true that they lead the team on the field. If anything, they drag the team down.

In reality, we have a poor spine. Friend and Pearce are promising. Anasta and Minichiello are garbage.

We may indeed make the eight, but boy would our forwards have to hurt people.

I don't know why everyone bags Mini, after all he is the current Italian fullback.

Cowboys, Knights, Storm, Broncos and Tigers are certainties imo then there is going to be a massive mid-table battle for the remaining spots.

I think you have unfairly written off cronulla and the broncos. apart from his presence, lockyear contributed very little in terms of performance to the broncos team this year and they have stacks of ability. If you can see us getting into the 8, the broncos will be there and there abouts as well. hoffman, mccullough and baptiste are guns; norman has done well in 6 on the few occassions he has played there in the past. their pack is gun and petero will replace lockyear's leadership and experience capably.

Roosters, Sharks, Manly, Dogs will be battling it out for the remaining spots.

I agree on the warriors - they will fall and their pack in particular lacks depth and mcclennan is a rubbish coach. The panthers roster is too weak to get them into the 8 and walsh and burns in the halves are, to put it nicely, terrible - they will just miss out. The eels like the dragons and titans will be patchy but not good enough in the end to mix it with the big boys. The rabbits wont be good enough either nor will the raiders although the raiders could be the surprise packet this year. campese back and a fit and firing dugan could re-ignite their backline of theirs which is pretty much unchanged since their dream run in 2010 and their pack is also unchanged and if anything, much stronger with fensom, papalii and co now permanent fixtures and their frontrow still as powerful as ever.

Our pretty well unchanged lineup that failed to make the 8 last year (minus Myles, Rules and Carney)... will these same guys win the comp in 2012?

I think it's fair to say NO from a punter's perspective.

As a fan I'd love to say we are up there, but we're gonna have to train hard in the off-season if we wanna get ANYWHERE let alone win the whole farking comp.

Certainly wouldn't waste any money on betting on us to win the comp but I expect big improvement from a young squad and confident we will make the eight and win more than we lose.

The sharks (if Carney says off the piss) may even finish higher.

Seriously what do we have apart from:
                                - The slowest backline in the comp
                                - Too many error prone players (BJ, SKD, perrett etc)
                                - An enthusiastic but ultimately inexperienced forward pack
                                - Halfs that are indecisive
                                - No X-factor or genuine match winners
                                - No player good enough to be in the top 40 players in the league
                                - A coach who can't handle anyone challenging his authority
                                - A football manager (Noyce) who has failed in his job 2/3 yrs
                                - A board who don't give a shiit anymore

Unfortunate but true. Making the eight would be a miracle IMO.
