It was pretty obvious that the bloke didn't have a red, white and blue bone in his body very early on in the negotiations.

I was just hoping at that point that he wouldn't be lying for once when he said he was chasing the money.

If the Oracle is correct and he has signed with Souths I would say that as we all suspected this has been his intention all along.
His main reason I think is his desire to play fullback. He is not a team player. A team player will play anywhere just to be in the team. I don’t think he will have an easy transition to fullback. Also, he will be under massive pressure to perform. I know a couple of Souths supporters and as soon as a players form drops off they are ruthless in their criticism.
He will be their marquee signing and will be expected to play at 100% every week. Anything less won’t be acceptable.
I truly believe he will regret it in time.
I too am bitterly disappointed in him for what he’s done considering all the Roosters did for him and his family. Brings back bitter memories of when RTS defected. Only this is worse because Latrell is defecting to our enemy and probably for the same or even less money than we offered him.

Nah, the bloke's dealing with a few issues - play good footy, racism, be a role model, get a new challenge, the indigenous thing, how good a footballer can he be etc.

Well its not official yet, but seemingly about to happen. But I truly don't get Wayne Bennet. To come out last week and tell the media "we wont be signing Latrell" … why the need to come out and blatantly lie to the public. Why not just say nothing, or offer no comment ….. Do you think this means obviously Souths will cover all his wage and we have another signing lined up that will be announced before the start of the season ?

Bennett has spent decades destabilising players from other clubs to serve his own needs. The bloke is a snake. Just ask his ex wife as she'd know better than anyone who the real Wayne is.

Do we need another centre? Wouldn't say no to Xerri or JMoz, but with Smith and Hall we've got guys who can do the job and Iku is a more than capable back up.
