is to not think of the 3peat, but to see it is a new year, take each game at a time, and try our best.
Don't know what influence Cayless will have, but BMoz could have a big year. But you'd figure it will be Teddy and Keary who will be our match winners.

Replacing what Latrell provided us in terms of assists and tries. This does not necessarily all have to come from Billy Smith, that would be unfair but we will need to fill the void elsewhere. I would really like to see Manu's output in regards to tries and assits double this year.
Settling in with a new halves pairing. It took a decent amount of time for us to settle with Cooper Cronk and he was a 300 game pro. Big ask for a 2nd season halfback.
Both will prove big challenges IMO.

1 premiership in the last half a century is such a magnificent achievement. It must be so good to be a Souffs supporter since 1971.

IMO Mitchell's tries and try assists have more to do with Cordner and Keary rather than Mitchell's individual brilliance. Note the flack Mitchell copped when Keary was out injured. Manu doesn't have that luxury of the Keary/Cordner combination. Mitchell and Manu both have a similar physical presence, and create space for those inside/outside of them by attracting defenders . That is their main contribution and I don't believe there is that much between them.
Secondly, the prelim and grand final were won on defense. In the grand final, if Mitchell didn't have a shocker with his kicking we wouldn't have needed him to supply a try assist... and in any case it was once again Cordner who committed BJ to the tackle and got a quick play-the-ball, followed up with Keary catching the Raiders defense out.
From that perspective, I don't think we need a superstar. Someone big and mobile who isn't a liability in defense. I am in the sign JMoz camp.

Latrell was invisible in every game Keary didn't play.
And Jmoz is a wall defensively who would make our left edge that much harder to break down.

Just looking at our 2013 premiership winning team. No Cronk, no Latrell. Pearce was our half back and Jennings and SKD our centres. The common denominator all along has been Trent and only about 5 players have been on all our 3 premiership teams. They were Aubusson, Toops, JWH, Friend and Cords - all still on our team for 2020.“Soon will the present day order be rolled up, and a new one spread out in its stead”- (Baha’u’llah)

They would not have won the comp without SBW & Maloney.
The core players are what is needed but you also have to have the cream of the crop as well.
The good thing about the Roosters for this year & a 3 peat is the fact that none of the other NRL teams have a better forward pack but the Chooks need Keary & Teddy to be fit & tiring because they are the cream of our crop.
