James Hooper, the very reputable DT scribe, says the original offer wasn’t enough. Might come down to the special Souths transfer fee of $116,000. Which is a pretty good discount for another club, especially if they offer more.

      ..it’ll be interesting to see

Don’t come on here claiming to know when you clearly know nothing.

Crichton, Manu and Bmoz need to lift outside of Flanno
Keary will give good service to Smith and Toops
Smith will be a good defender and he's not small, he'll be up for it.
We should know by Round 12....top 8 would be acceptable at that stage

                    Top 8!
                    Gee that’s negative.
We have the world’s best player, the best 5/8, one of the best centres, the two best props.....oh and the Australian Captain and a proven coach.
Now why would you think top 8 is acceptable? No reason we can’t finish top 2. Latrell and Cooper are gone but we aren’t playing with 11.

Defence. If our defence is still intact, we'll be thereabouts again. We'll have less points in us, so it's going to need to be very good.

Yep, gotta agree with that. They are still a very very good team.

Note the flack Mitchell copped when Keary was out injured. Manu doesn't have that luxury of the Keary/Cordner combination. Mitchell and Manu both have a similar physical presence, and create space for those inside/outside of them by attracting defenders . That is their main contribution and I don't believe there is that much between them.

Secondly, the prelim and grand final were won on defense. In the grand final, if Mitchell didn't have a shocker with his kicking we wouldn't have needed him to supply a try assist... and in any case it was once again Cordner who committed BJ to the tackle and got a quick play-the-ball, followed up with Keary catching the Raiders defense out.

From that perspective, I don't think we need a superstar. Someone big and mobile who isn't a liability in defense. I am in the sign JMoz camp.
True, but remember Mitchell's aura alone created a lot of uncertainty in defences, allowing players like Tupou more space. He is still a big loss

                              Keys:

                              Keary stays on the field.
                              Desire / Hunger.
                              Smith & Flanagan aim up.
Fair calls from the controlled Bunker.

We seem like a squad very similar to 2017 when we didnt win the comp. We got cooper who was the general who really was the point of difference in getting us 2 premierships. Unfortunately I have strong doubts we can be a 3peat with Coops gone and even with all latts lazy faults was still a weapon many times.....The best that can be said, there is no other team that has a much better squad than last year. Injuries may well decide so many outcomes!
