I think he played some pretty good footy. Arguably the defining moment of the game was when he picked out Latrell at a weak moment, stirred him up in back play and blew the gate open for Friend to score through a grubber to himself. This put us outta reach and sealed the game under circumstances where (IMO) the refs were way too generous to Souffs, who coulda caught us later on if we didn't score that one.

Other than that he was stable. I have no reason to think he's a shyte player. One can say what they like about his dad... I doubt Shane Flanagan pulls any strings around the Eastern Suburbs. I imagine the response would be 'get farked' if he called up Politis asking him to make his son the starting HB under the mentorship of Robbo and Cronk. More likely, Nick's asked Robbo, Cronk, Cords, Friend, JT and some insiders which young half they'd put their money on.

Better alternatives for that kinda price? Happy to hear suggestions. You see guys like Wighton getting praised as best of the best because they haven't king hit anybody, gone missing or been injured while doing drunken trampolining for 1/10 seasons. IMO if Flanno keeps it up he'll give us way more value than Wiggton has given the Raiders (and the general public) over the last decade...

      thank god.

that doesn’t last long in a marriage let me tell you!

I hope Kyle gets there but my gut is he won’t
too early for foff mark ii
Way too early. Patience and practice are the keys to being a good root or a good halfback.

      Chook.

That late hit from latrell spoke volumes about him as a fullback. He raced up from the A defensive position to put a late hit on the smallest bloke on the field and then went on with it trying to stand over him whilst deserting his role at fullback allowing Jake to waltz through and score.

Well he was only going to start shit with the only bloke in our side he hasn't played with. Poor form really.

And after he took the kick for goal as he's making his way back, he looked back probably towards latrine, and gave him a nice fark you smile!

Is that where he was? Hahaha! Gold! The Fox commentators couldn't find him anywhere. I bear no ill-will toward Latrell - I wish he was still a Rooster but that's awesome. On the subject of Flanagan...my early assessment (unqualified as it is) is that he is steady, competent but no superstar. Though I will caveat that comment with this observation - he still seems to be hanging back, waiting for permission to assert himself. Well, throw him the keys and see if he can drive. Otherwise, we'll never know.

I can’t believe you were all ok with the two tries on the line that he couldn’t stop

He’ll bulk up a bit I’m sure. Still young for a half.

That's why I prefer Aubo next to him as he is a much better Kevin Costner than Angus. Aubo reads the attack and hustles in defence , works from marker and whilst at his age not as good in attack is safer in defence.
Flanagan is still young and quite small for his position ,I'm sure with a couple more off seasons and age he will bulk up a bit and become a better defender.

He was great today, looked really confident. This game will no doubt boost that confidence
                              EASTS TO WIN!

In the Murray try Manu shot out of position to tackle a Souths player and Angus was in support. Neither of them got back to their position so Kyle was left with other players covering Angus and Manu.
