' an old head out there ' ...that saying doesnt fit with a dude that has never played a Senior game of League. Imagine when some of these big outside backs or forwards in their early 20's run at a retired AFL player, it is going to be embarrassing and serves no purpose
I dunno, maybe we're looking to use his kicking game. But the point is to create a bit of publicity so that an AFL crowd will see a familiar face and get interested. When we play our NRL game later in the year they might remember us and buy a ticket to see us. Guess that's the thinking.
Yep, we're going to revolutionize the way 9s is played.
But making our players sing the national anthem (even the Kiwis?) makes as much sense as denying Russell Fairfax entry to the Leagues Club cos his hair was too long.

They don’t have to sing it they just don’t need to come out publicly and say that they won’t sing it. They aren’t that important really. If they think they are they should quit footy and get into politics.

Yeah, but they don't sing it and then some journo asks them about it so they have to say something.
The thing I have always found incredible about this event is the way the media jump on board and talk up the winner, or those teams that do well, as if it is a guide to the premiership. I think it was Parra one year that did really well and they were all over them. Either 7s or 9s.
I don't care that much about this tournament, although I must admit I was pleased that we won the Auckland Nines. Our attention will hopefully be a week later on that all important WCC, and hopefully our chance to make more history by becoming the most successful side ever. Another string to our bow.
MRR or Rabid
Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.
