IMO the upshot of all this is that we released Latrell in order to avoid this.

Souffs and Cronulla have one thing in common... they both hoard rep-grade outside backs. Like we signed Teddy because we needed a FB! We then developed Latrell + Manu from within. We also released RTS, Latrell, Matto, Nene, Robinson, Momieovski...etc along the way. Souffs and Cronulla will both call us salary cheats by ignoring this and forgetting the fact they just frigging hoard players.

It's a pretty low blow hanging onto J-Moz when he wants to leave in order to:
      a. Block us from filling a gap with a player they don't even want (primary consideration).
      b. Keep him on the shelf just incase one of 5 other rep-grade (or similar) backs is out... knowing they won't be using him for much in 2020 and he'll probably just randomly walk off into retirement after the season without a send-off or anything.
I can sort of understand why the want to keep Josh Morris. Even if all their players aren’t injured, Morris should easily make it into their side. He does his job well, and probably was the Sharks best player last year. The Sharks are stupid, their whole recruitment strategy bit them in the arse. With Morris at the Sharks to them maybe there is potential to alleviate the pressure of their mistakes, as he can basically fill the whole backline. Even with the immense amount of young talent coming through, to have a good team you need a good balance both old and new players, and the Sharks basically let all of that go.

      • Can’t blame Cronulla for wanting to keep a guy who committed to them. From their point of view if they let him go they are helpful a rival become stronger. I would never want someone at our club who simply doesn’t want to be there. Hard one really.

Not really, by June Cronulla will have paid 2 thirds of his contract. The longer it goes the less impact on any suitors cap.If your a club with a bit of an injury crisis and The sharks are looking to balance the books he will look even more tasty.

            Spot on.

Huge reason why neither of those teams will win the comp. Can't manage their rosters. Both are teams filled with superstars without being a superstar team

            • If I was a betting man, I’d put some money on Josh Morris wearing the red, white and blue sooner rather than later.

I feel the same way. James Hooper seems to be leading the charge for him now.

[Insert video of ScoMo at an AFL game getting asked 'who are you?' then responding with 'I'm ScoMo!']

As soon as Sharks realise they can neither offload nor medically retire Dugan.

Ive been saying for years to people who take a swipe at me over the Chooks that Cronulla are the biggest buyers of named players & I cant work out they're not over the cap & the other club is the Dogs. Watch them start buying a premiership over the next 3 years now that they have a full salary cap.

I think(hope) the Sharks will extend him, which is good because he's got a massive future. Once the Sharks get Dugan off their books they'll increase the offer to Xerri and I expect him to sign. I could be wrong obviously but I guarantee you won't get him before 2022. Morris might let Jmoz go early but you wont be getting Xerri early.

I get a feeling too that Flanno will follow his dad to the Dragons or who ever when he gets a HC gig. With Walker being ready for a gig by then.
How many games have you watched Smith play?
