A snippet from a SMH Article on the new CEO,
Mezzatesta has played a more hands-on role at the club since finishing his tenure as CEO of The Star. He will help finalise the release of Morris, who is eager to finish his career alongside twin brother Brett at the Roosters. The Sharks aren’t prepared to let go one of their most reliable stars without something in return, particularly given the injury clouds hanging over outside backs Bronson Xerri, Matt Moylan and Josh Dugan.
Tricolours forward Poasa Faamausili has reportedly been identified as a player of interest to the Sharks, who are short up front following the departures of Paul Gallen and Matt Prior. The delicate situation is shaping as the first real test for Mezzatesta in his new role. The longer-term priority is securing the financial future of a club unable to use its home ground for two years while its leagues club precinct is redeveloped.
“We are more than confident,” Mezzatesta said of the club’s financial future at Cronulla’s season launch at Kareela Golf Club.
“The amalgamation here hopefully gets the tick of approval in coming weeks. That should be a good demonstration of our financial position, to be able to go and acquire a club like this and add to our portfolio. We’ll only continue to strengthen our position. We’re more than confident of what’s ahead.” Dino Mezzatesta is set to become the new Sharks CEO.
Injuries and speculation about the futures of Morris and Dugan have disrupted the Sharks’ pre-season. However, skipper Wade Graham believes his team can remain a premiership contender.
“We just get on with it at the Sharkies,” Graham said. “Most of the players have been through some adversity throughout their careers but we turn up to work and get on with it.
“The boys have been training hard, we’ve got a young squad and a really motivated squad. Our expectations haven’t changed from previous years - we expect to play finals footy and chase success, so we’ll be working hard for that.
“The way this group has trained in the pre-season, it’s the best I’ve seen for a while.
“We are missing a lot of experience, which has always held us in good stead in previous seasons, but we’ve still got a lot of experience in the team.

He can eat a meat pie
Solid build, no neck, always positioned where you want him to be in defence and always thinking what you are in attack.
If we sign John Morris, our odds of winning a premiership will increase significantly. Further, he's one of those blokes who doesn't need prep! As with Origin last year... you pick him outta the blue, put him in any team and he'll show up with some darn good footy.
National treasures. There think kinda blokes I wish were in the running for immortal status rather than Cam Smith.
