Fittler fines himself for drunken escapade
      June 20, 2009 - 9:37AM

Sydney Roosters NRL coach Brad Fittler has fined himself $10,000 after trying to gain access to the wrong hotel room early yesterday morning in Townsville.

Fittler was found half naked and heavily intoxicated by police after the female occupant of the room made a complaint.

The former Roosters, NSW and Australian captain was returning to the Holiday Inn after a night out and mistakenly got out on the wrong floor.

Fittler's Roosters sit last on the NRL table and take on the North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville tonight.

According to local media reports, a female occupant phoned police after finding Fittler banging on the door to her Holiday Inn room about 3am on Friday morning.

When police arrived, Fittler was still outside the woman's room wearing only a pair of shorts.

It is believed Fittler had mistaken the room for his own due to his drunken state.

"A female occupant staying at the Holiday Inn reported a man who was unknown to her was trying to get into her room,'' Townsville Police communications coordinator Sergeant Dave Finlay told the Townsville Bulletin.

"She stated to police that she didn't know who he was and she slammed the door on him.

"The police were contacted and a crew was sent to investigate.

"The man was found outside the female occupant's room extremely intoxicated.

'He was escorted to his room, which was located on a different floor.''

Earlier this year, Fittler was part of the committee who banned Roosters star Willie Mason and Nate Myles for one match after they both admitted to having a few drinks on day non-prescribed by the NRL club.

The club has since relaxed its rules regarding the intake of alcohol, which limited its consumption to just the day after games.

In September 2003 she was placed on a good behaviour bond after her third serious driving offence in three years. Police caught Wilson driving while disqualified in Sydney. Her case was heard in the Downing Centre Local Court on September 3, and she was placed on a bond for eight months. Wilson was previously disqualified from driving after a mid range drink-driving offence that was heard in court on March 26, 2002. She was fined $1100. Earlier, she had been caught drink-driving on October 23, 2000. Wilson appeared in court on December 5, 2000, and was disqualified from driving for six months from thet date and fined $500. [4]

Also, this is a response she gave in one of her blogs, she is too stupid to pick it up. Read it carefully. Matt, whoever you are we love your work!!

Im not going to pass judgement as to be honest I dont know what exactly transpired (The same goes goes for everyone outside of that room - ‘Hacks’ included). As police didnt charge him, we can only presume innocence from a legal perspective. Morally - Guilty as hell, and his poor wife is really paying the price for it (again).

In light of that I want to go briefly digress to a side topic: Given that he has been sacked/stood down, even though he has for not comitted a crime, Shouldn’t other Companies (in Particular Media) sack their staff if they commit a crime (ie not petty crime or traffic infringement etc)? Or is OK for them to turn a blind eye?

I think if you commit a serious crime, you have to be sacked.

How do you know what type of person Freddy is......

What he has done is bloody ridiculous, and apart from whatever the club chooses to do, I am pretty sure Marie will deal with him accordingly....he may not have been doing anything wrong other than being paraletic and trying to find his room, but as a wife I can imagine she would be pretty damned embarassed right this moment....

LOL, after 10mins of the Fox coverage we and Freddy have copped a hammering.

Just wondering why the woman opened the door, slammed it in Freddys face (according to reports of course which now seem to be saying there were more than one occupant in the room) then rang the cops???

My wifes first reaction was why didnt she ring the reception, there would be security up there in a minute or two?? Shes worked at hotels in various roles for years and says its not actually unusual for pissed men and women to get out of a lift on the wrong floor and not be able to get in their room, cos its the wrong room.

I can relate to that....sometimes after too many, I can't find my room in my house.

Who cares. The bloke is over 18 and the club's alcohol ban was canned. If Freddy wants to get tanked who could blame him after all how many of us will get pickled tonight, I know I willl!

Ive had a few occasions when I cant find the "porcellen bus" when ive had a few too many. But these days we have tiles, not carpet, so when I need to up'n'under I have options.

The problem I have is that we are sitting last on the table and he is out on the grog till 3am. What would happen if a player done that and we got flogged? I bet he would be crucified right here on this forum.

We are just getting a little momentum, a small glimpse of what we are able to do if we play as a team and he is out on the piss. Who was he out with? Some of the players?

A bloke gets out on the wrong floor of a hotel drunk. Nothing wrong with that but what the hell is that bloke doing walking around the corridors in a pair of shorts?

I have nothing against the bloke getting tanked. I do it all the time but the timing is extremely poor.
