  • The Sydney Roosters - Character in bucket loads

How about the character that Trent has installed into this club? . It seems no matter who plays, how many errors or penalties and being relentlessly pursued by opponents and refs we just have that character that fights back again and again. Today I saw once again the GF roosters who were pinned in their own half almost all match hardly getting in the opponents half and absorbing unreal amounts of pressure. Yet when they least expect it we pounce on them from within our own half. In the GF it was a combination of Cords, Teddy, Toops, Keary and traitor. This game no Cords, no traitor yet Keary and Manu with help from SST and Flanno come to the fore. With different teams and combinations we’ve pulled off back to back in two premierships and two WCC’s. And we were rusty!!!

Again I was fooled and thought they had us on the ropes yet we come up with such amazing character and resilience that belies belief. This is the best rooster team I’ve ever seen in my life. Of course I don’t expect a 3peat but just to achieve so much is unmatched by any other club in the NRL or English league. Watching the game in awe saying to myself ‘just how do they do it’? Take so, so much pressure and still rain on the opponents parade. St Helens must have been feeling ‘green’ today wondering how they lost a match they dominated from beginning to end. Our stats defy the odds. Teams with our stats get walloped but not the roosters. Because one stat they don’t take into account and that’s character which we have in bucket loads. Congratulations and well done!!

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree, good post RoosterChook.
          MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

            Yep Roosterchook, very nicely written.

Very glad to see a fellow long time rooster fan enjoying probably the best ever era of our club.

I was thinking before, we already have a media contingent upset the salary cap is "not working" as we keep winning - can you imagine the Chernobyl level meltdown we would cause by making the 3peat?

              Great post!

WWC was so impressive with that defensive effort as a team who hasn't even played a trial yet versing a pretty handy Saints team that has lost about 4 games since the start of last year

Seems we have the winning attitude and composure instilled into the team - something that other teams don't have and it is hard to achieve. Other teams have a mountain of pressure of breaking their droughts, we have already achieved back to back so that pressure is gone, they know what to do and have eyes only now to win more and become greater legends.

I watched a great interview on twitter with Kyle Flanagan saying how he grew up supporting the roosters and how much it means to him to wear the jersey. Hope he goes well in 2020

Forget SBW, Maloney, Cronk or Teddy - Trent is the clubs MVP for the past decade

If all else fails, defend. The proof of the chooks character is in the great wall of bondi. Attitude in defence speaks volumes about a teams character and this is why I think your wrong roosterchook,
you should be expecting a 3 peat...

Yeah well said roosterchook, the ability to absorb sustained periods of pressure (most of it self inflicted in regards to the WCC) is not something money can buy, and this is what every moron with a keyboard on forums and platforms like YouTube, dumbFcuk journos who just hate us do not want to want to give Easts credibility or recognition for, I have seen some great pieces of articles giving us the the due recognition (only recently) but it has taken a long time to hear about it.
This is why we need to keep winning and keep proving to everyone it’s not the coin that buys premierships it’s philosophy it’s a belief system and it’s pretty much a way of life that Trent has established from day one ‘stopping tries is more important then scoring them’ look at the tackle Teddy and Sitili make on a flying winger destined to score (can’t remember the name but the previous pass was called forward and subsequently didn’t matter) but making the tackle is everything that matters it’s a testament to Trent and the quality of leadership he has in absolute spades.

I have so much love for this club supported them for 20 years since I was in primary school, and yet no one in my group of friends even wants to mention football as a topic of discussion coz I absolutely love giving this pep talk to them lmao.

The Character off the field is matching there on field professionalism
The work that Trent and the Roosters have put in overseas in promoting the Roosters and Rugby League can be seen by reading the super League club forums.
The coaching clinics put on have left kids in awe and growing our fan base world wide
