I appreciate that's a real risk but even if you get it you will probably be around for a while yet.

Maybe I’m over the top here but considering the facts carefully does it take a death of a relative of a player for the NRL to take the matter seriously? I mean while everyone, I mean one and all, are very concerned about the virus and people dying, the NRL goes on TV and all it can talk about is $$$$$$$$$$$. It just looked so unaustralian and so out of place them crying over money while people are dying and even players concerned. For that moment I felt ashamed to be a follower of the sport. Don’t count on the NRL to look out for anyone but their own hip pocket. I just felt disgusted. Maybe it was just me but I really don’t want anyone else to die and if the season and the almighty $$$$$$ has to be suspended then I couldn’t give a damn if it saves lives.“Soon will the present day order be rolled up, and a new one spread out in its stead”- (Baha’u’llah)

I would have to remove the strap/s that hold it on so she could cut my hair.
Maybe I could just let the straps hang loose and stick the mask onto my face.
Got 8 weeks to invent a solution.

NRL's idea of a "catastrophe" and mine are a little different.

He did say that the whole thing is an hour by hour proposition.
He said this has never happened before [in more recent times anyway].
He said they're hiring a top biosecurity expert, and a top pandemic expert...to advise them.
The things mentioned...loss of jobs, businesses going broke etc...Alan Jones was on about this morning, interviewed V'landys about it on air.
Including the races...the flow-on effect of no crowds at the races...no money being spent on dresses, hats, shoes, suits, pies, fine dining, cleaners, bar staff, catering staff, venue staff etc etc etc.
NRL is basically an industry that employs many people.
The decisions aren't easy.
So...if they suspend the season, the NRL and clubs will go broke...kaput, no more footy, bye bye rugby league. All the players out of a footy job, permanently.
No more Teddy, no more Toops, no more JWH, SST...they will all be but a distant memory.
Alan Jones asked V'landys about a future/sinking fund or whatever it's called. V'landys said the NRL has some cash reserves but nothing like what would be needed, that basically past admins had spent all the money.
He [degree in economics, and an accountant] said there certainly will be one in future [if there is a future].
ANZ stadium hasn't been touched yet.
One suggestion I heard was that 'Aunty Glad' [I did have such an aunty] could suspend the upgrade and use $200m or so of the upgrade money to save the NRL and rugby league from extinction.
I wouldn't like to be known as "The Premier who killed off rugby league" come the next election.Last edited by bondi.boy; 03-16-2020, 04:56 PM.

I got a bit carried away with the whole saga...when all along he seemingly never really wanted to stay with us at all...no matter what we did, or offered.

Today on the tv new was shown a nice lady, blind/unsighted, with a guide dog.
She went shopping at the supermarket, bought some in demand items, put them in her trolley...and "my fellow Australians" 'stole' them out of her trolley and took them for themselves..
Yes, that's what Australia has come to...'robbing' blind ladies at the supermarket.
