I’m much more concerned about what I could catch from Souths supporters in Round 3.

I hate to do it, really hate to do it but I agree with Darcy from Maroubra or Bondi Boy or whoever he really is. My brother has been on paid leave since the beginning of Chinese New Year in Japan. The Olympics are likely to be postponed. I think Coronavirus could definitely cause severe disruptions to the 2020 season.

The toilet paper thing is ridiculous.
I prefer to wipe my ass with a Souths jersey anyway...

Agree that there will be disruptions , do you think that would be an over reaction or is it necessary because the virus is so bad , my belief would be it's an over reaction , I'm not suggesting not to be careful but 70k stadium , 15k attendance , it's not necessary to sit to close

Most of the ignorant people out there are like Minnie Bannister "We'll all be murdered in our beds!"

Most people who get the disease get little more than cold like symptoms. Immunosuppressed people, either through pregnancy or misadventure, need to be very careful. But everyone else should just wash their hands, use hand disinfectant when they eat out, and avoid Chinese people.

(That last one was a joke btw)

People with diabetes are 5 times more likely to die from Coronavirus than average.

Many many people in Australia have diabetes.
The lady who sits on the lounge has diabetes.
She's also 70+, another high risk of death group.

Would that not be the same risk with the flu virus for older people and people with diabetes, what about old people with diabetes such as the lady in the lounge are they higher risk that 69 year old with diabetes ,

Qantas cancels more international flights as coronavirus spreads rapidly

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Qantas Airways Ltd said on Friday it would cut more international capacity this month as it grapples with falling demand due to an escalation in the coronavirus outbreak in countries beyond China.

The latest cuts to destinations including Tokyo, Sapporo, Osaka, Hong Kong and Auckland are on top of its grounding the equivalent of 18 planes as it cut international and domestic capacity last month.

"The coronavirus situation and its impact on international travel demand is evolving and we're monitoring closely," the Australian airline said in a statement on Friday.

                      #####

Looks like many folk don't want to get Coronavirus and die.

There's a simple solution to Australia's Coronavirus problem.
ScoMo almost got it right in the first instance...travel bans.

                      Australia is an island continent.
All the foreign students are here now.
Simple solution is to seal our borders...travel bans, and no one who is outside of Australia now gets in unless they're first put in quarantine in Alice Springs, Darwin , etc...army to build tent cities in the outback if necessary...no exceptions..
Only until a vaccine is developed.

That way, anyone who has the virus now either recovers or passes away.
The virus would be gone in a few weeks. Australia would be virus free.
Footy would be safe for all again.

Tourism industry etc would be compensated, for 12 months.

People with diabetes are likely to suffer serious complications from the flu and are 3 times more likely to die.
But, there is a vaccine for the flu, special one for old folks.

There are a lot of different figures flying around but The Economist is normally pretty reliable:

'Officials will have to act when they do not have all the facts, because much about the virus is unknown. A broad guess is that 25-70% of the population of any infected country may catch the disease. China’s experience suggests that, of the cases that are detected, roughly 80% will be mild, 15% will need treatment in hospital and 5% will require intensive care. Experts say that the virus may be five to ten times as lethal as seasonal flu, which, with a fatality rate of 0.1%, kills 60,000 Americans in a bad year. Across the world, the death toll could be in the millions.'

The figure of 2-3% fatality rate which gets mentioned in our media is probably over-stating things, as a lot of people with only mild symptoms don't get recorded. Still, a lot of people are going to die before we get a vaccine and even healthy people who get it and won't die will have to be in quaratine for a while.

I think the club should think of banning the players from giving autographs.

And here I was thinking the entire Roosters 30 man squad plus coaching staff were in quarantine with that virus.

Maybe the players could play in bio-chemical suites. All Sydney games should be at the SCG to keep the players well away from the crowds. Souths supporters should not be allowed to leave their squalor accommodations.
