I don't have an issue with staying at home, as I have the internet, 1000s of hours of television and movies, and a shedload of books to read and re-read. I have savings and I'll likely go on the job keeper allowance if needed. The only thing I'm concerned about is that there's a sunset (or finite) clause on the police powers. Contrary to the belief television would give you, most people join the cops for the power trip.

BB, Hart Island has operated for many years as a “pauper’s grave” site. This is where homeless and indigent people without means or relatives are buried. Numbers have increased but the approach is not new

Greetings all from the cesspool that is New York City - jeez it’s boring without live sport!
My wife and I have been isolating for more than a month now - we watch the NY Governor and Trump press conferences every day for news. Yes it’s true NY is finally seeing a significant drop in hospitalisations/ICU admissions..sadly though, part of that is a result of patients in those wards dying. That said, a lot is attributed to the social distancing guidelines which people are taking very seriously.
As for the politics - there’s a time and place to debate who was wrong - but I can tell you that as late as last month, NYC’s mayor was tweeting out that we should “get out on the town” because corona risk was low.
Well, we are paying the price now - we’ve never felt further away from home, which is why we’re hoping Aussies keep adhering to the guidelines. It works - it’s starting to work here and I urge you all to keep it up. There’s a reason Australia’s numbers are low - people are diligent. Keep it up and we get our footy back, don’t and there will likely be a second wave. Spanish flu stretched over 10 months - its second wave was the deadliest.Last edited by Labinator; 04-12-2020, 01:06 AM.

Trump and his MAGA hat were elected President by Americans to "take our country back" from such things.

The quote the only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history is apt as we quickly forget anything beyond a couple of generations.
If anything can be learnt from that video is we should be grateful we don't have a reality TV host running the country.

On ch 9 news just now I watched in horror as it was stated that not only is our govt [ govts have no money, they only have money they raise from the People] going to have to bail us out...but also bail out Indonesia.
Indonesia, who spends a fortune on military hardware, and has a more powerful military than we do.
$400m buying Apache attack choppers from the US...$1bn buying subs from Sth Korea...etc etc etc.
220million or so population, 1,000,000 virus infected, 100,000 could die, terrorised the families of Chan and Sukamaran by executing them when we begged them not to, now we have to bail them out "to save the partnership, especially as regards terrorism".
We could always build "fortress Australia" and defend ourselves against terrorists.
"If terrorists are not on our soil they can't blow us up" - BB
We already give Indonesia $500m in aid every "Christmas".
Aussies still living in Bali/elsewhere in Indonesia are being advised to get out now and come home.
If our businesses are going broke and our people are begging for food, why are we going to give Indonesia billions?
