    Make that over 60.
Dr Kate included them as well... as the limit for not getting treated with respirators...
when the system is stretched and there are not enough of them.

Yes, 60+ and you're an "old person.not worth saving." Expendable.
At least now we know what the score is.

I want to apologize to you, BB, for any critical comments I have made in the past about your negativity and occasional hysteria. It's pretty clear to me now that you are one of those people who catastrophize every minor problem into an apocalypse and this has been behind all your negativity about the Roosters. You just can't see the positives because the world is full of negatives - e.g. "Sure we won 2 comps in a row, but we've lost Tetevano! We're doomed."

Now, of course, we have a real life catastrophe to catastrophize about. Things could indeed get very, very grim (like in Italy) and you must be out of your tree with worry. I sincerely feel for you.

But there are a few things you need to remember. First, A Current Affair is trash TV that exists to sensationalise. Second, "Dr Kate", whoever she is, was not articulating a government policy that all people over 60 must die. Yes, in a worse case scenario, some difficult decisions might be needed, but nobody is suggesting that the health service will turn away everyone over 60 on the basis that they are all "expendable". That is your hysteria at its worse.

Here. Read this. Things will probably get even scarier for you, and A Current Affair will keep you watching its drivel to make it worse, but a Noble Prize winning immunologist is a little more positive than Tracey Grimshaw's mob: https://www.smh.com.au/national/nobe...24-p54dib.html

Stay indoors, watch some old Roosters games, and relax, BB. And sorry again for being so nasty to you.

No need to be sorry for anything, bondi.boy has thick skin like a crocodile.

No way known to mankind "negative" I would have let 2700 passengers simply disembark that Ruby Princess cruise ship and disappear into society [now the army is running around looking for them all], or let passengers arriving on overseas flights simply walk out of our airports with no testing at all [as is happening now, shown on tv and talked about on radio] and with a fact sheet and a request to self-isolate.
Hundreds of thousands of Aussies overseas ...many trying to get home. They should be taken from the airports into forced quarantine...or not allowed in yet.

The tally of infected people is soaring every day...55 in NSW 4 weeks ago, now it's 1000.
2200 nationwide. According to ACA only 2000 respirators.
The way things are going it won't take long to get to 60,000...and not enough respirators.
                  ACA is very informative.

                    Hey BB,

I have heard that we are trying to source and also manufacture more ventilators and please read the link Spirit of 66 kindly shared. It's about that the rate of infection may start to flatten out in a few weeks.

Once again take care and imo a lot of ACA is not informative but alarmist rubbish designed to outrage the community and as a result good ratings and bigger advertising dollars...

I understand why they are doing it. Because of media alarmism.

Surely the people making the decisions have better access to information than a bunch of people on Twitter.

Probably unpopular opinion but I think the PM has risen to the challenge.
I'm not gonna say he has or hasn't risen to the challenge... that is yet to be seen and IMO it's not really a time for playing politics.

However, I think it's a fair call that it's easier to criticise than to do stuff. Like I love Norman Swan's updates. But like... him saying that he's filling a void coz politicians have no idea (while saying China's handled it all perfectly) is pretty weak.

I mean is he seriously suggesting that:
                      1. China's numbers/messaging suggesting that they're the heroes of all this and that it's just foreigners importing it into China now aren't complete bollocks.
                      2. ScoMo would get away with installing Huawei 5G thermometers + facial recognition devices in the streets (in combination with 3G enabled vitals tracking bands for people) to identify and then alert police of anybody suspected of having a fever?
                      3. We should lock everybody indoors and have the army positioned outside with AK-47's to shoot on sight if anybody leaves their house.

Onya Norm but we live in a democracy here. Also, we're a multicultural country with citizens all over the world. We can't just tell our subjects 'you cannot come home for 12 months!!!' There are practicalities that go into implementing stuff. I mean Norm said 'just close everything now and I'll take the blame if everything crashes'. Great! However, he's not an elected official with other (more practical) considerations to balance. There's reasons why this is easier said than done.

Also, IMO we shouldn't be taking opportunistic stabs at politically charged stuff, using COVID-19 as the 'reason' when there's clearly other agendas going on (I'm really proud Australia's not getting involved in this sorta stuff).

We are already seeing things like:
                      - Israel using this as an opportunity to shut down the West Bank and crush Palestinians (that's what 'total' lock-outs are doing)
                      - China taking the opportunity to foreclose on privately run companies that their government would love to own (yeeeeah maybe that 'saves' companies but we're not doing that for obvious reasons)
                      - Texas et al are using the opportunity to call abortions 'non-essential' and close down clinics.

Again, I'm proud that our governments aren't doing this sorta bullshyte. Rather, they're trying to strike a fine balance between mitigating health risks while also keeping the economy somewhat alive.
