Because regardless of what you think the "West" has absolutely no right to tell any country, particularly one from the East, to do anything. The West has plundered and pillaged the East for decades and now they are doing something that has a detrimental affect and upsets us, they are supposed to abide by our moral grandstanding? lol fark off!
The West are more than happy to exploit the East and their economies for cheap labour and massive profits, but when it comes to them they have to shut down their insidious industries for our benefit?
It was not that long ago Nike were sponsoring Tiger Woods for more money then they were paying their entire workforce in the East to produce their overpriced shit.

That is the cluelessness I'm talking about and it is matched by your ignorance of the history between East and West.

    Chook.
I never said we can force them to close , that should be up to there Government , logic says if the source of the virus came from the wet market and information suggests it did , then the problem needs to be rectified or closed , this isn't a eastern problems it's effects are global and as such should be treated that way , surely we, they can't sit back and let this keep happening , thousands dead , economies and lives in ruin and your suggesting we mind our own business , yep clueless

And you want segregation back? Cause that worked so well in the past didn't it.

I'll tell you what I'm going to do, ignore you forever as you are simply...fark it, what's the point.

      Chook.
Segregation of Australia from the rest of the world with travel bans and closed borders is working well atm as regards the virus...not so well for employment, tourism, business here.
Don't suppose you'd have any suggestions as to how we might safely open the nation again without importing more viruses?

      Conspiracies?
Trump just cancelled US funding to the WHO.

And this is what you fail to understand, now that "our economy and our lives are ruined" you want something done about it. But in the preceding decades when we were exploiting the East and ruining their lives and their economies for profits and cheap shit, you had not one complaint about that. The West is simply getting some of its' own dirty shit tactics thrown back in its face and people of the West are outraged by it. It's entitled hypocrisy 101.

What this virus has revealed is that Western Capitalist Economies, for all their vaunted strength and growth and security, are paper mache entities that crumble when put to the test. And please don't give me any of that "western businesses will get us out of this" as it'll be tax payers who fund the bailouts and it will be tax payers who will be screwed over and over and over and over again so business can get back to doing what they do best, ripping off their customers, ripping off their workers, ripping off the tax man and ripping off other businesses.

It's not hypocitacal , it should have been stopped in 2003 or whenever sars emerged , but hopefully something will be done now before it truly is to late , no good raving on about the past ,it's the future that matters now , just saying we have to stop making the same mistake , all of us . As for the big business paying there fair share , to bloody right , we all should be paying our fair share

            Chook.
We are selling Seafood in our wet markets, and these exist all over the world. The Chinese wet markets in question also sell seafood, which isn't an issue. The selling of mammals for the purpose of food or for medicinal purposes (completely unfounded that these provide any benefit) is different. We aren't going to catch viruses from seafood but as we share a more similar genome structure to other mammals (bats, pangolins, bears etc), these can pass on diseases to humans.

Agree but also most if not all of our so called wet markets are done in a hygenic manner , not so most off the Asian markets I have seen ,

If you think the practices that, while not causing the Covid-19 outbreak, are still barbaric are only a recent thing, you would be wrong in that assumption. Asian cultures are very different to western ones. What we consider sick or barbaric is just normal to them.

So was and is slavery in some places , that in itself doesn't make it right . I have absolutely nothing against anyone wanting to eat a non endangered animal as long as its done in a humane way , but still reserve the right to reckon its sick to do so .

                    Yes I know.

I'm happy though for them to stay in their own countries and practice their cultures.
I've always kept a very close eye on my dogs, never let them out of my sight while outside.

                    http://www.travel62.com/United-States/34.html

A from Beijing, China men, go to San Francisco to visit relatives, see neighbors married women to keep the German shepherd dog actually moving from slanting, he even stole the neighbor's dog and kill it made barbecue!!

The old couple found her dog missing, look around and around they found traces of abnormal, followed by the police.

To the surprise of the police, when asked why he stole the neighbor's dog, and cruel methods of killing, the man said: eating dog meat in China is a kind of custom. Nothing extraordinary, he no consciousness in the United States it is illegal, and is willing to compensate neighbors a dog!

But he wanted to be too simple, here is the United states! The victim's neighbors insisted that the dog is a member of their family, this thing is too much damage to their spirit.

                    #####

                    In other words:

A tourist from Beijing who was staying with relatives in America stole Humphrey the lovely german shepherd out of the yard of the American couple next door, killed it, cooked it on the BBQ and ate it with not a second thought.

Wagga Wagga City Council cuts China sister city ties over communism, coronavirus concerns

The largest inland city in NSW has voted to sever its China sister city relationship in a move slammed as "racist dog whistling" by a fellow politician.
Wagga Wagga City Council last night narrowly voted to cut ties with its sister city Kunming, a relationship which began in 1988.The councillor behind the push, Paul Funnell, said the "Chinese Communist Government that delights in lies, subterfuge and coverups" has brought "death and destruction across the world with COVID-19".

                      Well there you go.
Probably will be "corrected" though …"so as not to offend China". Usually what happens.

I do find this hilarious, did they only realise now that the Chinese communist government delighted in lies, subterfuge and coverups? Sounds more like they are aware that they won't be traveling back to their sister city Kunming anytime soon and are going to look for another one to continue their junkets when travel opens up.
