lets see how the season progresses.
If anything happens to Keary , he could find himself in the halves?
From the trial game I have my doubts about our back up halves
Agree he seems to be a great kid. He mentioned that in Matthews and SG Ball, he played in the halves.

Weidler is a shit stain much like Souff Sydney. Verrils is just class he won’t go anywhere, Jake is one half of our leaders and long time servant, I wouldn’t hesitate signing him to a 2 year extension, however, planning his succession is key Verills is the future we will have to build a team around him and Flanno and young Walker after Keary and Teddy have won us at least another 3 premierships.

Maybe he's one of those guys who shouldn't aim too high and look to secure his 85.000 a year for the rest of his career.
When you look at it like that it make perfect sence.
I wonder if robbo gives Verrils a run at 6 or 7 at training , with the thought of using him as a back up half. He definitely has the skill set and speed to be a success.
If we get a injury in say round 10 hutch would probably fill in but if it was a semi or GF I'd be very nervous and would be tempted to look elsewhere . I think pick your best 17 then positions to a certain degree..

Don't know what to think about Lam. He was desperately unlucky to get injured at the wrong time last year so we haven't really seen him showing us what he's got behind a dominant forward back.
Hutch was pretty ordinary last year. He looks like he is doing okay as back up - he tries to fit in with our plans of attack and play like Keary which is obviously the least disruptive way to play him but is is a lot slower in the legs and in the catch and pass - as a result he is no threat when he runs it and cuts down the time those outside have before the defence is on them. When he played 5/8 last year our whole left side looked crap / we couldn’t score points - it was Hutch. He is a park footballer.

I expect we will play 'like for like'. Hutch for Flanagan, and Lam for Keary when unavailable.

Lam and Keary are similar styles of players. And if we have Flanagan/Hutch as our halves pairing there's little attacking threat to the opposition.

Sorry, I have had a break recently and am playing catch up.

Sam is a great kid and showed some class in light of Weidler's nonsense.

He needs to be retained by us as a matter of priority and urgency IMHO. I hope we can. Another position is an option.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

I think we should invest in Verrills and I believe if he played yesterday we would have won. Our attack was terrible with Friend and so was the ruck slowed down. Verrills also would likely have scored that try. We’d be crazy to let him go. I would use them alternatively. Friend for defense and Verrills for when we need points. Our attack is never great without Verrills.

Big decision will have to be made with Friends next contract because no way verrills will stay playing second fiddle. I think we have to make the tough call and go with verrills otherwise risk becoming an aging roster.
Plenty of struggling clubs looking for leadership and direction would be willing to make Jake a big offer for a two year contract which we would have no hope of matching.
