Hasn’t played in months. Would be fresh as a daisy. Obviously injured. We all know Robbo plays games when it comes to this stuff.

Yes it should have been. And Thirteens diction is usually beyond reproach.

Jesus ....lets enjoy our time in sun boys before it ends with an abrupt halt.

This will be a good year, i reckon we'll give it a real shake.

But longer term we are going to lose some key people.
In all reality, given the injuries they are carrying and the nuts and bolts holding them together, its highly possible Cords and Friend only have another 2 years before they HAVE TO hang up the boots.
Aubusson gone at the end of this year.
JWH is into his 12th year as a starting prop and is in his twilight.

Lets enjoy 2020, because its going to likely be a bit tough afterwards

Well said mate. Most NRL players are playing through the pain barrier every week and they're one injury away from hanging up the boots. You can't predict when that injury will come (either a chronic over-use injury during training or a big hit being just one too many) so you have to be prepared.

Burgess is your classic example (although his retirement was a scam). If they'd made the GF he woulda played... absolutely no dramas. If he wasn't overseas hiding from a DV arrest warrant that woulda killed his retirement plans (costing him upwards of $2 million) then he woulda played on in 2020... absolutely no dramas. However, push come to shove, he was able to see a doctor and get the answer 'no, I don't think you should be playing contact sports with injuries like that'.

Cords is only 27 and doing fine. My money's on Friend possibly retiring in 3 years at 33 (or going to England for $$$) with Verrills being able to stick around.

Seeing Cronk after the GF saying he was glad he didn't have to make any more tackles gave us all some perspective. It farking hurts having to tackle even a random 130kg slob with no talent. Heck... I don't play cricket for work's team coz I hate catching cricket balls (fukking hurts!! and that's not even a contact sport...)

I'm ok with Cordner being rested, it's a long season and what matter is results in the end.

Like Sam or dislike Sam he was a great player who would play if he could. The injury he has is not fake mate.

Sam stopped his car in Coogee yesterday to help an old lady carry her shopping.

I'm not saying any injuries are 'fake'. I'm saying most players carry on with serious injuries until they reach a tipping point (which is often unrelated... e.g. your relationship breaking down because of DV and you knowing that you'll face charges as soon as you return to Australia after partying in Mexico).

Had Sam's relationship survived, I reckon he'd be playing through 2020 with that shoulder injury and you wouldn't notice it.

When's the NRL going to take a harder stand to DV? The NFL is much better in this regard.

Cronk just now on NRL Tonight said that while Cordner is the ultimate team player he is absolutely filthy about not being able to play the first couple of games this season as he completes a high intensity training block to get him ready for the grueling season ahead.
