maubs leaves and chrichton takes over his role. If sam takes the halves fill in role who drops out. Lil walker, Lam, Hutcho. nahhhh. sam can be a pure 9

umm have you forgotten We have Keary, Flanno, Walker & Lam
also Verrils is a premiership winning hooker. Very silly suggestion

            Injuries mate.

            Also not convinced about Lam.

I agree that Sam Verrills could be a short term solution in the halves, if needed. Like you, I'm not sure that Lam cuts it as a first grader. If we need a half for a short stint, I would take Sam V, who has the makings of a great utility/impact player off the bench until Friendy calls time on his career, and he can own the 9 jersey.

Has Verrills played in the halves as a junior ? Not sure why most think you can go from 9 to an NRL standard 7....the portions are light years apart ( different if he has played as a junior)

He mentioned in an interview the other day that he played a few games in the halves in SG Ball/Matts (can't remember which one). No one is expecting him to play a lot of games there, but I reckon he could go OK there short term if needed.

Copy. I haven't watched that interview yet. He seems like a quality person who i hope is with us for his career, hope he kills it wherever he plays

Will have to be a lot of injuries for Verrills to play in the halves

It's a good interview but Friend's 30 (b-day in February so a real 30) and he's our captain. Verrills is 21 but 5 years is a looong time!

It all just depends how patient Verrills is and whether better opportunities pop up. However, realistically he'll only play in the halves if a horrible string of injuries puts him in that position on a temporary basis (if he was gonna move to the halves, we wouldn't have bothered signing Flanno).

IMO in order of likelihood his options are:
                          - Stay as a reserve hooker until his contract's up then get a $500k+ offer to start as hooker elsewhere.
                          - Bide his time until Friend retires (could be 3-5 years).
                          - Find another position and enter our (crowded) top 13 and own it.

So Maubs is 32. Why couldn't he play on for another 3 years or so? Looks fit, seems to have bounced back well from his injury in the GF. If the accountant can keep going why not our legend? Especially if Cordner is struggling. I thought the talk around here would be about him staying perhaps on yearly contracts not retirement speculation.

over the years ..only my view....flanagan to play half for 2 years ..if he stays I see Sam Walker coming into the 7 and Flanagan moving to 5/8th ??? why I am not so sure if Keary will last because of all the head knocks ...he even copped it in the GF we were lucky they didnt make him come off or the winning play doesnt happen.
