  • Politis wants Stewart brothers at Bondi

THE NRL's most powerful official, Roosters boss Nick Politis, is secretly trying to sign Manly's disgruntled Stewart brothers, Brett and Glenn, for 2013.

Politis rang their agents Mike Newton and George Mimis from Europe on Tuesday following my revelations last week that both are free to quit Brookvale.

Brett's contract expires at the end of next season and Glenn has a get-out clause because of an incredible administration bungle with his deal. I am told that even though Glenn, this year's Clive Churchill medal winner, has signed for another three years, a certain clause has not been met by the Sea Eagles.

If tested legally, there is a strong view he could walk out the door right now. Politis is aware of the situation, as are the Dragons, another club poised to make a move for the brothers because they are originally from Wollongong.

Canterbury are the other club in contention because of their respect and friendship with super coach Des Hasler. Brett has a particularly strong bond with Hasler, who nursed him through 18 months of hell.

Still, of all the clubs chasing the pair, the Roosters would have to be firm favourites. It's widely considered that what Nick Politis wants, Nick Politis normally gets.

And what I can't believe is that the Manly board has extended the contract of chief executive David Perry for three years despite the stuff-up with Stewart's contract and the other recent dramas at the club.

Noticed an article today stating that just about everyone associated with the Manly club has been banned from talking to the media.

That is the only important statement in that article. Rothfield invalidating the article by showing his psychotic bitterness towards the roosters.

Your all mad. There is no better fullback on the market or likely to go in it. If we get Snake, that would be awesome. His brother we can do with or without no biggie. But mini has to go after 2012. We cant keep carrying this guy. Stewart would be ideal as an experienced cog in that spine of 1, 6,7,9. Then all we need is a halfback so Pearce can play 5/8 and were set.

Brett would be a great signing. Glenn we don't need in my opinion because we have enough young good backrowers but he would be handy. Brett would be twice as better then Dugan and a millions times better then Minichiello.

Um well Brett would be 28 by 2013 and is pretty injury prone, I doubt it would be the best purchase. At his best though it would be a good purchase but would he still be at his best in 2 years and be able to stay that good for a few years?

The digiraper is not welcome, the lock would be okay but not necessary.

Love how the author thinks he's had so much influence...
Mate I can guarantee that Nick doesn't read the papers for tips on who to sign. He has the same kind of inside knowledge that... oh wait... somebody within the inner circles of the NRL would have.

Oh and this rumour is BS :P fortunately when the "article" is posted inside our forums the tellUcr@p gets no ad revenue or extra sales.

Piss off Fingerbang and "If I wasn't playing league, I'd be Paul Hayward" Stewarts.
