Perth have been ingrained in the West Coast eagles and Fremantle Dockers for far too long for NRL to get a foothold. Not to mention their Club afl which is huge over there. To get league going over there will be not much different to the Storm in Melbourne. And the Storm has only worked because of their backer and because they have been hugely successful.

Better off getting a 2nd Brisbane team going to stop the mortgage they have over that city.

      Reportedly:

120 staff to run the multi billion dollar Premier League.

      400 to run the NRL.

      Hmmm.

i believe this is all a much needed 'hard reset' for the game (and how we live too by the looks)
The administrators are finally going to get their come uppance. Stuff like the judiciary how much do they spend on that ! The flights hotels the freebie taxis the lunches the expenses when we all know the result . That can be online court for starters
What else How many overseas flights does greenburg take abroad for "education".
what about all the league staff fully paid for trips to games How often does that go on and why When they work next to a stadium
No wonder clubs dont have faith in him they see what goes on
and how much are we pumping into ambassadors for diddly squat return

The NRL admin priorities stink They behave like investment bankers did in the 2000's... and is the reason many folks have been priced out of going to games. Sweep the place out.

I believe everyone should get paid/rewarded, in some way.
                      Volunteers included.

                        From the Paul Kent article above;

And in all their largesse those people in the NRL forget about the people like Charlie Gallico. He remains a stranger to them.

None of them were ever like Charlie, turning up at Souths Juniors almost 40 years ago and volunteering to help the kids for no other reason than he loved the game.

He is a life member of the Rabbitohs, a life member of Souths Juniors and a life member of La Perouse Rugby League Club.
They are rewards for service, selfless service.

The current NRL administration are not the game’s owners but simply its caretaker, there to protect and nurture it for the next generation. Yet they are reckless.

They will never appreciate all that Charlie Gallico, 75 years old and from Matraville, has given for the game, or would for his Rabbitohs, or why he has been the team mascot for 19 seasons and never asked for a dollar in payment. They do not know what football means to him.

When his wife Sofia died seven years ago Charlie’s heart broke in two, and his thinking was a little clouded, and somewhere in the back of his mind he knew the Rabbitohs were playing Newcastle at ANZ Stadium that Saturday and, well …

“We buried her on Friday and I didn’t know what to do,” Charlie says.

“I asked my daughters. I didn’t … I didn’t want to do it, really, because my wife had just passed, but they said, ‘Dad, mum, will be proud of you’.”

Sofia, see, loved the Rabbitohs as much as Charlie.

Before the game Mark Ellison told Charlie not to lead the Rabbitohs out this night.
The players wanted to go out first and form a guard of honour for Charlie, Ellison said, and so that night at ANZ Stadium nobody knew why it was different, why Reggie the Rabbit was being clapped onto the field by the players, but to Charlie it meant the world.

And after the Rabbitohs beat the Knights Charlie was in full Reggie mode, celebrating with the faithful, when suddenly Adam Reynolds and Issac Luke picked him up from behind.

They popped him on their shoulders and began chairing him around the ground. Charlie needed a pick-up that night.

The fans cheered and clapped Reggie, because South Sydney fans know what Reggie stands for, which is the very best of the game.
And while they chaired him, Charlie, inside that rabbit head, was bawling his eyes out. All he could think was what Sofia would think.

I high-fived Rocky the Rooster at Gosford.
I want my rugby league back!
                        I want my Roosters back!
                        How dare you! NRL.

Unhappy with Mr Greenberg and what's gone on at the NRL.
I quoted the article about Charlie/Reggie to show what footy means to fans.

                            Closet Souths supporter?
Nah. But I don't hate them (or fans of any other teams) like others here do.

Some of their fans make it difficult to love them though.

Haha - it would be my pleasure!

Apart from the birth of both my kids, the most special day of my life was being a part of the winning GF dressing room in 2002.
i still remember being at the top front of the double decker bus pulling into the Spring St entrance of the Easts Leagues Club and the thousands of cheering fans - absolutely priceless!!
