A running kick to the chest by a very strong, 90kg athlete is not a blow of a minor nature, and suggesting you were trying to defuse a fight by assaulting one of the participants doesn't really gel. Often, a significant factor in "one punch" deaths is the head striking the ground or other solid object when the victim falls. Fortunately in this incident that didn't happen, however it was a potential outcome.
I dont know Cody Walker and we have all made mistakes, but perhaps a "good family man" could have been at home supporting and comforting those in need following the death of his cousin rather than drunk and brawling on the streets of Casino.

Not really sure what you mean mate.
My point is that the injury or death, attributed to a coward punch can actually be caused when the head impacts with the ground. The force or strike used to generate that impact is irrelevant. It doesn't need to be a punch, it is an offence regardless of what part of the body is used.
While unlikely, if the guy falls back and cracks his head, Walkers actions lead to the same outcome you are suggesting he was trying to prevent. It might seem far fetched but there are instances of a simple shove causing deaths in this way.
WA father sad for accused in son's deathThe father of a Perth man who died after being pushed outside a nightclub while trying to hug a stranger says his son's assailant simply overreacted.

I reckon the black mail angle was just thrown in to deflect from the incident itself. If he doesn't get suspended and/or fined, the integrity unit has lost the plot and it will be an indication that they go soft on Souths' players indiscretions. At the end of the day it has to be described as a 'coward hit'. Just because if was a kick shouldn't matter. If the victim had hit his head on the ground and died as a result, Walker would be on serious charges.
If the investigation indicates that there was no black mailing involved, then he should also be in trouble for making this up.Sickie Lame .... King of Bestiality
