That is in reality, save for everyone playing each other twice which can't happen, as fair as you could get.
And after an 0-2 start we'd probably have to go 10-3 to make the top 4; and ultimately 13-3 to win the comp.
We're quite capable and yes, that'd be a very well earned and legit title.
Also ftr, in the NFL they play 16 games in the regular season and no one complains about the legitimacy. I don't see why 15 regular season games in an even more gladiatorial sport would be any less worthy.Last edited by Tommy Smith; 04-04-2020, 07:29 PM.

Seriously, as much as I'd love to see League this year (and potentially a threepeat) I think the ramifications outweigh the positives. All I can envisage are (and most importantly) family problems (that's easy enough for everyone to work out), injuries, a sub standard of play and a sense of no real meaning; we'll go through the motions but at the end of the day this season means jack!
I can appreciate that sport is a big part of everyone's life (mine definitely included) and watching your team week in and week out is a real buzz (regardless of the result) but no matter how I look at it, these ifs, buts and maybe's about what may or may not happen is nothing but a band aid solution. Players (at any level) aren't going to be where they should be (fitness wise) so to try and cram a season in regardless if that's what the fans and players possibly want, personally I think everyone is on a hiding to nothing (just my opinion).
Eventually COVID 19 will dissipate, then and only then I think we should start to think about playing sports (and all other activities) in a safe and meaningful manner.
No doubt I'll get shot down from many here - c'est la vie."Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".

Would also be happy enough to give the season a miss , it seems like a pipe dream to keep everyone including family isolated for that long , but I wonder if we could just play state of origin in say July with all proceeds from tv going to the club's , that way we see some footy but a lot easier to organise

What ever team wins the comp this year (if they have a comp) would be deserving Premiers. You can only play what the NRL provides so if you win the thing all good in my eyes.
I never thought the Chooks would get the 3peat anyway because of the loss of Latrell & Cronk. And also the plan Robbo would have had about resting players over the course of the year would all now be put out of sink so I dont even know if the Roosters would even be contenders in a shorten comp.
I'll put my money on Kikau/Cleary Penrith winning a shorten comp. It will be good for Roosters supporters if Souths win it. lol

I just cant see the comp getting started in time...hope I am wrong though.
100% it will be tainted and marked with an * in the record books. Like Tommy said, if we can get 15 rounds in it is pretty much a fair comp. Less than that or a conference type comp i must admit it will struggle to hold my interest

I think it depends on how short it becomes. One game per opposition team should be sufficient you would think. If it gets any shorter than that, the clubs would all have to agree "we are in the same position, so whatever happens happens, so be it". That would include the Rabble, as you could imagine their whinging and whining if we happen to do it all again!MRR or Rabid
Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

On the one hand you've got a comp that will have changed its rules mid-stream (not good); on the other, these are unique times and fair enough for the NRL to be flexible.
I hope we get a full (shortened) season but I don't like the chances. I think the NRL should bite the bullet, call the official premiership season off and just try to eke out as much rugby league as poss. Divide the comp into 4 groups, each group plays each other once, then you get a top 8 (winners of each group go into the top 4; 2nd place in each group goes 5-8)and have a traditional final series. Two games a weekend, with flexibility about who plays as infections come and go. 12 weeks of qualification, then a normal 4 weeks final series. That is definitely achievable - what the NRL is currently trying to do will probably be a valiant failure.
