It's a decent signing and something that (we needed) for a while now. Remains to be seen how he fits in with the dynamics of the team

Maloney is a proven performer - he has shined in that warriors squad CONSISTANTLY for 2 seasons now.
He has a great running game, decent speed, good kicking game, good defence for someone his size and does not take a backward step - tough as nails.
While Johnson has had quite a purple patch of form but i'd say Maloney was more crucial in the Warriors success this year.
Johnson commands big bucks yet is not exactly a proven player.
Maloney plied his trade under Bellamy, worked his way up through the grades, took his chance when it was presented and never looked back.
Thank god the club bought someone with a proven record, rather than just hype.
I am very happy with the Maloney signing, he will be great for us although if given the choice i would have gone with Johnson. I believe there is plenty of substance to the hype with that kid, he is amazingly talented and 4 years younger than Maloney. Time will tell of course, Johnson will be up against it next year with challenges such as possible 2nd year syndrome, change of coach and being more targeted. If he can overcome those obstacles he will go on to be a true superstar and have a massive career! The Warriors weren't silly signing him up as soon as they could because there would have been loads of clubs knocking down the door to grab him!!The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!
Here's looking at you, kid.

I think a good signing.
As for Mortimer, if he's good enough then well he does have all of 2012 to prove a point and re-establish his career .... and even if he's behind Pearce & Maloney at the start of 2013, whose to say injuries wont play apart and he'll find himself in first grade at some point during the 2013 season

Reading between the lines.......Braith wants to stay. Problem is there most likely won't be a spot in the run on side, if it all goes to plan.
No place in the halves for him. Lock? 2nd Row? I think we all saw enough of that experiment.
That means he either leaves, on another offer from a rival club (seriously doubt that at this stage of his career it will be a good one), or he is pushed out.
Won't that be another bun fight! :/

johnson reminds me of Stacey Jones......took a long time to REALLY come to the fore in Rugby league (2002 GF was his Real shining moment, dispite the loss). Johnson will be a star, in a few yrs time.
Maloney is a good buy, i think we will reap benefits..... hopefully we will really get the benefits in 2013

Interesting to note on the Warriors forum they have nothing but positive things to say about him, even now he has signed to go elsewhere. Now don't get me wrong, there were only 10 posts and I have no idea about their judgement, but I thought it interesting that they all appreciate why he has made the move, and recognise the Roosters (with Pearce) as a good fit for him.
As is always the case, I just hope we paid the right money for him. For mine he had a good year in a team playing well but doesn't deserve a top line salary just yet.

Odds would say that it is yet another mistake by telegraph! Surely though if Anasta is signed until 2013 he would have to cop a hint and f*** off a year earlier after we have signed Maloney unless he expects Maloney to play fullback
