The real crime would be if we kept Anasta for too long and lost some of our young talent.
    This.
I'm no Anasta bagger, but once Maloney comes all Anasta is doing is hogging salary cap space.

It seems some of youse are unaware that earlier this year Capt Banasta extended his stay at BondiJ til 2013.
Like it or lump it, the cap burglar is here to stay. In fact, the other night Smith praised & endorsed him as our leader
due to the young squad we have at hand. "Fortunate to have him, Mini & Perrett at the club" he remarked.

        Big call.
What if Maloney is a myth, the same way Morts was for the last 2 seasons?

Is that you Braith? Believe it or not, any person with half a footballing brain knows he doesn't have a place in our 17.
No point having experience when you can't play for sh*t...

This is what all good leaders do in the business world.. Create a problem and then take credit for attempting to fix the problem. Our recruitment and retention should have ensured we had some other experienced players in the squad and not just that, players who actually more than hold their own.

                • I don't get this myth that anasta is a good leader.

What really makes a good leader?

It is simply not getting into trouble off the field?

                  Or is it more?

Is it having the respect of others do they follow you?

Looking at our results the last 6 years, looking at our poor discipline the last 6 years, the players don't follow braith.

I don't consider him a good leader in any respect.

                  • I have two words for Braith Anasta.

                    Graeme Smith.

When Hansie Cronjie did his spectacular fall (and fiery crash) from grace, Graeme Smith at 22, took over the South African cricket team. He took them from the shithouse to the penthouse when they beat a full strength Australia in 2008/9 here in Australia.

It has nothing to do with age or experience, it's about talent. Braith never had the talent, no matter how old he is.

On field leadership in Rugby League is overrated, they have to make very few decisions throughout the game.

All about what happens at training and off the field. In the 4 years he's been captain we've see saw'd beetween great success and massive failure. It says one of two things, what you're saying or that he's been undermined by a group of players who have derailed us after success seemed to come so easily. The club is going with the latter but I reckon this year will say a lot... no excuses anymore.

                      • The only time Anasta has ever fired up as a leader is when he has been smacked in the mouth by an opposition player, or blatantly dudded by the refs.

I really can't believe all these negative comments about Anasta. In my opinion, I would still rate him our best player. If you really watch the game you will notice how many important tackles the guy makes covering for other players. He is close to our best ball runner, who creates opportunities for his outside men. He does a lot of importtant things on the field that usually goes un-noticed. He is also capable of the BIG PLAY. Anyone who thinks we are not going to need his experience next year with the young team we have, have rocks in their heads. Of course he is a better player at 5/8, bit if we do happen to get Maloney next year and Anasta ends up in the second row then so be it. He played in the second row in 2010 and we qualified for the grand final. If the young guys are good enough they will force their way in front of himbut I'm, not sure they are just yet.

                            • Our best ball runner?

                              He hardly runs the ball.

He is good at kicking out on the full from a kickoff though.

                              • Anasta is the only reason i am not looking forward to next year,it is such a shame as i am usually pumped up for the season ahead.
I cant handle watching him in our jersey anymore,it is painful!
