Shed a tear for the big man, one of my childhood heroes. Makes me feel old, feels like not so long ago I remember him hitting it up in the tri-colour jersey.
The guy is and always will be a f*cking legend. R.I.P Artie.

A good memory of Artie when he was coaching back in 85. It was either second or even first game of the year at Lidcombe: a hot day. I was standing next to the old Lidcombe grandstand and I could hear him revving up the Roosters players through the old grated windows just before they ran out. Come to think of it the dencorub also permeated the air; players like Wayne Portlock, Mike McLean, Horrie Hastings, Johnny Tobin and Wayne Challis. They gave the Magpies a hiding that day, 40-10 maybe.
But someone said earleir about the Beetson coached teams being happy teams-this was a happy team.

A rather dark thought just struck me. It's Bob Fulton's birthday today. It will be forever remembered as the day Artie died which, as truly sad as it is, is thought that makes me smile.

                    "Kiwi Artie"

                    I like it.

If Marty is half the player Mr. Beetson was then he will be a champion.

Absolutely gutted! He was the main reason I am now an Easts supporter. Great great player and a great great man. Very sad day indeed. RIP big fella.

The response to Big Artie's death has been staggering. It 's almost as if all of us (but obviously more the footballing fraternity) have not had a chance to say to the big man thank you for giving us so much pleasure. And now he is gone and it seems many of us ' well me certainly, are saying but I never told you that you're great. Many of his league contemporaries are actually saying I loved You mate and you're going to leave a hole in my heart.
Just as an onlooker and a diehard Roosters fan, Artie was Easts and my generation(as a teenager in the mid 70s) certainly will hold him in the highest esteem.
