In some photos the chooks posted on Instagram included both Angus and JWH offloading in different pics. I could be overthinking it but it’s interesting to see that at training could be a sign of what’s to come with our attack? More free flowing? We’re notorious for not offloading so it was interesting to see

The new rules have changed everything.
    Someone in another thread said
    "touch footy".
No more totally completed tackles, and defence totally set.
    Superleague is here.
There are gonna be lots of tired players very quickly.

Think "the best defensive team in the comp" wiil be replaced by "the best attacking team in the comp".
If they go mad with the six again at the ruck...all the players will be worn out by the end of the first half.

It's undeniable that we lost a fair chunk of our attacking creativity with Latrell Mitchell gone so it wouldn't surprise if tactically the coaching staff will look to other areas of the field to create some points and 2nd phase may just be that.

I also think it's a bit of a myth that we're notorious for not off-loading, in 2015 we ranked 3rd for most offloads and in 2016 we were 2nd. Over the course of Robinson's tenure I believe we rank 9th out of the 16 NRL clubs. Players like JWH, Moa & Kane Evans in particular individually always ranked quite highly for us. Daniel Tupou as well doesn't mind an offload.

Off loading has its benefits but it also can have a negative affect on the structure of the set so it's not really surprising that with Cronk as our halfback we threw less offloads than most other sides. With Cronk it was always the plan to hit a certain part of the field so we could run the next play off that. Offloading provides unpredictability... quite literally the opposite of Cooper Cronk.

How good has he been since winding back the offload and going full bore taking on & running straight through the line. He used to turn his back into the defence once he hit the line and try to pop a ball out the back- now he only offloads when the play is on rather than being forced. His reads in defence have improved out of sight and having Josh Morris on his inside will only make it better. I used to rubbish him 2015 to 2017 but no more- he plays like the beast he is. Even when he does make a mistake instead of the head down & hand on hips he has the confidence just to let it go and do his best to make it for it. Good on him!

            It's not a myth it's a fact. Robbo doesn't encourage offloads.

I can't even remember Toops last error; that's how good he's been going.

Speaking of off loads, how good was his offload to Cords in the Prelim? Catches a bomb, then fights his way through about 3 Storm defenders to get away the ball for Cords to score the crucial first try. Genius.

The dude is the complete winger right now. A metre eater, 2nd phase play, a strong aerial threat, great finisher and a strong defender. Wouldn't trade him for anyone.

And yes I gave him shit around 2016 too. His turnaround in performance but also confidence has been immense.

I thought the chooks made a huge mistake letting Ferguson go ahead of Toops, my word Toops was a monster for us last year he was great in 2018 too, however I think Fergo was the better winger (at the time) looking at it now Toops is the complete winger totally agree with everything you mentioned Tommy good post.

Is JMoz going to play inside Toops? He has basically played his entire career on the right? I’m not sure how many people have the Fox League app, according to those reports it’s been mentioned in a couple of articles the twins will play on the same side?

Toops is one of my favs - 3 time premiership winner with the Chooks and will go down as a legend of the club

I think his transformation and improvement also adds to his story

I hope he's being well paid...and still will be in his new contract under the new NRL.
It is reported that clubs don't pay much for wingers.

Josh Morris is a specialist left centre. Brett Morris most of his career has played left wing but Toops is a left winger and that spot is his. So i guess its possible that Joseph Manu moves to left centre allowing the Morris boys to play on the right........i just assumed that Josh slots straight into the vacant left centre role.

                        Anyone heard any different???

Some people would sacrifice more money for happiness. If Toupo feels he is being financially rewarded fairly by the club then it stands to reason why he stays. Toupo isa shy personality type who doesn’t want any extra attention. What’s the use of going elsewhere for more money and being unhappy. I’m guessing Latrell would be wishing he stayed here where he wasn’t being hounded by the media for what up to now at Redfern hasn’t been a great experience. I’m sure Toupo is saving his earnings to live a comfortable life Post rugby league.

Toops last year was as good as Fergo in 2018. There aren't better wingers in the game than these 2.

Absolutely loved Fergo , had a few mistakes in him but gave everything in a game . Would welcome him back anytime.
