I think the biggest worry is yet another subtle rule interpretation; this time regarding scoring tries.

In a directive from the broadcasters to get more breaks in play from tries, therefore more ads and revenue, the NRL has obliged by adjudicating tries like Union, and awarding ‘close enough is good enough’.

I don’t have a problem with this, as long as they are consistent across every game, all year, not just the first few rounds like the NRL has be known to do.

If so, many more will come for us too. It also highlights exactly why changing the rules too often is fraught with danger and only causes more confusion.

This is Vlandys weakness, despite forming a committee to discuss changes, he went rogue and implemented them without consultation from the people who have played the game at the top level. In the desperation to get the game being played again and earning revenue, he has so far been excused from criticism regarding the changes.

This is rugby league and it’s only a matter of time.
      ..it’ll be interesting to see
