We don't have good leaders in our club, one of the reasons why we have been so poor on average for a while now.

There's hardly a player we have that people can point to that is the type that will inspire other players or be the follow me type.

But that will change somewhat in 2013.

Don't get me wrong, I like Friend. He is a fierce competitor. However as I have said in another post, in this day and age so much more is expected from a Captain off the field and I think Kennedy is better equipped to handle those aspects. I don't see it as a major concern with he and Pearce jointly handling onfield responsibilities. Pearce is hopeless off the field when it comes to the media aspects etc. I want the Roosters to be viewed as the most professional club in the comp (along with the most successful) so taking those aspects into consideration I still believe Kennedy is the man.

Braith's a great captain to be sure but his work rate is just awful and went missing a lot of times last season.

The importance of the "captain" in the modern Rugby Leage team is vastly overstated. It's far more a tradition that anything else these days.

              Chook.

I think the opposite. I feel the importance of club captain is often understated..

                  Why? Whats changed.
Why have you placed speech marks around captain?
How would your arguement have altered if you withdrew the word vastly?

Can the players respect & heed the advice of a captain who doesnt perform/contribute greatly on the field?

a captain has to lead with word & actions for mine, I would be happpy for one of our better performers to be awarded with the captaincy

ever since anasta joined the club we have been a rabble for the majority, he has rarely led by example or been a significant contributor on the field

He had an opportunity to do it last year when we really needed it and leadership for the majority of the season was lacking

I guess that would depend on how the players rate his performance and contribution?

It would appear that the players feel a little different from the way most feel about Anasta on this forum...

I do not profess to know either way..

Yeah I agree, the only time I hear so much negativity towards Anasta is on this forum, he has the respect from he's players and the club and that's enough for me to believe he's the right man to lead our team... He wears he's heart on he's sleeve each n every week, along with 80 % of the team last year he had an somewhat poor season.. Its funny though that in 2010 he was playing awesome n everyone was had there say about the club thinking about resigning him.. He's an absolute legend and I hope use all eat ur words at seasons end

                            Here is the truth.
The idiots didn't not respect Anasta, well they did not respect the Roosters. They are gone.
The remaining do respect Anasta and they do respect the Roosters.
Whether fans like him, rate him, admire him or not is basically not that important. The fact that the club, sponsors and the other players do is.

The other interesting thing to remember, when Fittler took the Captaincy from Fitzgibbon, it was because Fitzgibbon questioned Fittler's incompetence as he should have, but Fittler's addled mind was made up. Anasta pleaded with Fittler not to do it but he insisted. The things Fittler would have done were ridiculous beyond belief.

Try and be serious and you will look stupid

I believe this is probably the truest thing ever written on here, K.B.

I still hate Anasta's guts though.
