I invoke the poor man's Clifford Odets in Arthur Miller and his play the Crucible when I write that Anasta didn't turn up because he realised that he was not worth the dust on Artie's boots.

Seems like Braith and Barack have something in common.

Both incompetent leaders, both hide on the golf course during important events and both gone by 2013.

Take a look at the debates in the primaries.

          The alternatives are hardly breathtaking.

In your various protections of Anasta there is some truth, especially in relation to the way he conducts himself apropos the club. I agree with you that those projecting him as a greedy, selfish, money-hungry wanker couldn't be further off the mark.

But, the one thing you constantly overlook (it is a symptom of almost all the members of Anasta's army) is that the most important criterion for Braith is not whether the players rate him, or whether the club likes him, or whether Politis considers him as part of la familia - it is whether or not Braith Anasta is the best the Sydney Roosters can do in the number six jersey, or the number eleven jersey.

For several years now, Anasta's on field performances tell me and many others that he is nowhere near the best we can do in either of those positions.

As a result, I believe he must go. He deserves a thank you and all the retirement cushioning he wants - coaching, mentoring, a juicy ESL hiatus if necessary - but he must go.

Ain't it the truth. It's like the special Olympics without the good parking spots.

            Chook.

They brough Carney in and played him at 5/8 and Anasta in the forwards, now he certainly doesn't have the work rate I deem necessary but he must have done something right in 2010.
The other thing that many Roosters fans don't realise is you just can't go out and get anyone you want to play 5/8.

I know Anasta is not the greatest, but I have seen him have several good games for the Roosters,

That's the whole point, he has been at the club for 6 years and all we as fans have to show for it is several good games, the rest have been mediocre to outright crap.

He reminds me of Mark "Tubby" Taylor, sure he might be a great captain, but if his performances don't justify his place in the team then he should be dropped regardless of who he is. This also sends a very strong message to the whole squad that nobody is safe, and the only way to protect your spot is to play week in week out.

Several good games over six years does not stand up.

Anasta's bad or ordinary performances far, far outweigh his good ones.

We cannot get anyone we want. But we can and could have, over the past six years, gotten someone better than Braith Anasta.

Braith Anasta is a very poor 5/8. He has the ability to go by unoiticed in a position that requires one to be seen. He can be unsighted for 79 minutes. The other 60 seconds are kickoffs of which he plays the starring role, though often these go out on the full. He is very slow and has almost no attacking potential. Despite pairing with the current Blues halfback he often goes for half a dozen games without a try assist. Despite some saying he is a good captain, i would bet that under his capatincy the Roosters have been booed off the field by their own fans more times than at any other time. When moved to lock he would more often than not have the worst statistical performance for a forward out of anyteam playing that week and that includes the performance of bench players, some of whom never took to the field.

One must also remeber, whenever Anasta has had a bad game, the Roosters have also had a bad game. His team mates werent exactly shining examples when he went missing....youll find a few were right there beside him, lost.

Friend was the only one who could honestly hold his head up. Mini, SKD, BJ, Carney, Pearce.....they all had their fare share of days in the shit.

The problem with Anasta is he doesnt inspire. He cant lift the side...with the exception of a flukey field goal in 2010.

He's not a bad player...he is just as sus to making silly errors as the rest of them.
Alcohol never solved any life problems.....then again neither did milk.
