Yes and I am really looking forward to tonight's game, even though it's on at a terrible time. Mum doing ok considering - cancer has now gone to the brain. The teenager is currently doing his end of semester exams. He continues to amaze me with how much he is growing up and maturing. It's hard to believe that 13 years ago I was worried about what the future may hold for him but he's using his strengths to great effect and coping well with his weaknesses. He is very determined to be at uni next year.

Perhaps, those who ruefully ruminate on "modern laws handcuffing parents, teachers and police" don't remember a time when Coppers in Australia had carte blanche to assault people (Bumper Farrell was a shocker around Paddo and Darlinghurst but everywhere else they were class enemies), at the Catholic school that I went to there was more caning than teaching with little if any difference to education outcomes except that it converted me to Atheism. Parents, too, were often violent because society was violent.

All that you need to do boys is think a bit more (ideally read a bit more) and the "all gone to shite" thing ceases to hold water.

Perhaps they do remember a time when parents supported teachers and didn't go flouncing to principals like a paddo fairy when their child was given the cane for doing the wrong thing instead of demanding justice for their little angel who would never do that.
My parents did give me a clip under the lug when I deserved it and it taught me there are consequences for your actions.
