    sky falling on our heads and what's going on in the US is off topic don't you think?

    NRL players are kneeling.
    Our players could be kneeling today.

        they're not kneeling in defence of rioting in the US! lot of league players these days aren't white. makes sense for them to take time out to criticise racism. everyone can support that.

          Hopefully any kneeling by our team today will only be related to things in our land, and not relating to anything happening in one land over the seas in particular.

          DT 2 page spread yesterday detailed;
          Armed protesters in that land have taken over Seattle, Washington state [west coast, up the top, borders Canada].
          The police vacated, protesters took over 6 city blocks, set up a fenced off autonomous zone ...CHAZ...Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone...painted BLM along a street in giant letters.
          Checkpoints inside the zone patrolled by protester armed guards.
          Police report that inside the zone businesses are being "shaken down and a fee for being able to operate demanded."
          Washington state is an 'open carry' state, meaning you can wear/carry guns openly.
          My words; You can be a 'gunslinger' with 'tied down guns', and an assault rifle slung over your shoulder.
          Woman running Seattle was shown on my tv news last night saying that "We'll be having a summer of love". [or words to that effect].

          DT article also stated that; para: "Portland, Oregon, [the state below Washington state] is the next city where an autonomous zone is likely to be set up, as the police are not willing to use force."
          Then it mentioned that the same thing could happen America-wide with police being unwilling to use force.
          They are taking the Knee in opposition to racism , That's a good thing.
          Its not only about what happens in our land , its about what happens in our world.
          Same as its not about what happens in our house its also what's happening in our neighbours house . Same principle , care for all

              Hope our guys dont get involved in this shit. I think the kneeling stuff started in US with sportsman refusing to stand for their national anthem. The act itself is more racist than any social comment it seeks to make. As difficult as it would be in such a public group situation id politely decline and say "Sorry guys, not politicising things today".

                • Yeah it's a footy forum but other things that really need to be addressed often arise in the course of conversation. Things like the pretty mindless regurgitation of News Corp Right wing -isms on the part of contributors. You fellas who mindlessly repeat that easy solutions to complex problems stuff play into their hands - their idea is to create a rigidly conservative, simplistic group think in the working class which will militate against you voting for your own economic interests.

                  Perhaps, those who ruefully ruminate on "modern laws handcuffing parents, teachers and police" don't remember a time when Coppers in Australia had carte blanche to assault people (Bumper Farrell was a shocker around Paddo and Darlinghurst but everywhere else they were class enemies), at the Catholic school that I went to there was more caning than teaching with little if any difference to education outcomes except that it converted me to Atheism. Parents, too, were often violent because society was violent.

                  All that you need to do boys is think a bit more (ideally read a bit more) and the "all gone to shite" thing ceases to hold water.

                      "This shit" is a peaceful united stand against racism. Solidarity is strength & there is nothing wrong with anyone, including sporting figures, expressing their feelings.

                      If the USA had embraced Colin Kaepernick's peaceful protest and addressed the issue you would have been working towards a change instead of seeing anger, violence & chaos on the streets. He wasn't protesting against the anthem, military or flag....it was about police brutality against people of colour in his country. Instead we had the President call them " sons of bitches". You reap what you have sewn.

                      That police officer is currently serving a sentence in jail for murder. Justice for all is what is being asked for. That officer had previous 3 complaints against him, including assaulting a female. Floyds killer had 17 complaints. Neither should have been serving as police officers. Poor screening, training & following up of serious complaints is a major problem in the US. Luckily in Australia our police are better trained in dealing with calls to violent situations, people with mental illness or drug/alcohol issues. Its not perfect....most cops will tell you they need better and immediate access to professionals such as mental health experts, but its a lot better than the US. They need a complete overhaul.

                          No arguments on any of that which just goes to show this isn't a race issue like its being called out for. Mobs of people running around burning, killing and pillaging while hiding behind their skin colour could be seen as being the real racists.

                          • My particular favourite is the speech I posted here earlier about the 14 yr old boy at school in the US apologising for being White;
                            Starts off;

                            "Dear women, ……...

                            • I'd be sorry if I thought that Mrs. BB had read that and Jax, for Pete's Sake, the blacks here or over there have never had "their way" not even a glimpse of it. There is deeply rooted racism in the US. When I was there the range of acquaintances that I had volunteered that they were "a little prejudiced". That's how they'd put it. Whether or not it's collective guilt, they fear the blacks. Poisonous.

                                Whats to protest? The Somalian police officer got what he deserved- charged with second degree murder and now doing time in jail...where he will get a second dose of justice being a ex cop.
                                The protests are about white cops not facing the same justice. Look what it took to get Derek Chauven charged with Floyds murder.....or the ex cop that killed Maud Arbery. They were all going to get off without even being charged....as have dozens before him. The racism hasn't changed....however now thanks to Steve Jobs everyone has a camera with a video recorder in it to film it.

                                At the start the protests weren't peaceful. No one condoned it, even Floyds family called for it to stop. Now, much to Bunker Boy Trumps dismay, the protests have become mainly peaceful. He would have loved nothing better than having a rioting crowd outside of the White House to send the national guard into with tear gas and rubber bullets. Luckily for him even those around him feeding his ego didn't entertain his idea of using the military against Americans.

                                Around the world the protests have been peaceful.....although i'll leave it to you to google the not so peaceful right wing protest in London last night.

                                All is being asked is everyone to be treated as equals. It's time
