He got beat 1-on-1 by Michael Jennings - a bloke who has scored 150 career trys.

The crime was committed by Joey Manu who rushed out and missed Jenko, thus leaving Flanno in the unenviable position of having to tackle one of the best centres of his generation 1-on-1.

If that's your catalogue of evidence to determine that Flanno is a poor defender then you're a very hard marker.

Watch the video will ya. Both tries the same. The Eels identified Flanno as a weakness, and created the space by catching Flanno square on and throwing the cutout pass to where the space was.

And no, I am not marking him hard. Flanno is small and inexperienced. I don't expect him to defend as well as Cronk did. It is what it is. The original point was in relation to Verrils. We can't have too many small and inexperienced defenders on the field at the same time.

Yep - not a rest for making it through 3 rounds of footy :P

Honestly, I'd only be resting players if there's welfare issues (e.g. rub Teddy out - anybody else get hit by a train? Nope). We've had a ~2 month rest and are starting to build some momentum. Players are more likely to get injured during training and they NEED match fitness/experience after a delayed start. It'd be stupid to beat Parra then lose to St Merge coz we're not taking it seriously enough...

PS - why did the match review wankaz decide to slap Radley with a retrospective fine + points penalty without him being on report? IMO it makes a mockery of the 'report' system if they can add people to the list regardless. IMO it's stupid that they can do this coz he'll just pay up then come the preliminary finals or something he'll be cited with a legit fine only offence and they'll be like he can miss a key game because of points from earlier in the season'. Seriously, fark that!

You're supposed to defend square to the attack. If you start sliding too early, you get beat too easily back on the inside. I watched both tries again and Flanagan did all he could in my eyes. He remained square and marked up until the ball was past him then he slid to try and cover. The quality of Dylan Brown's pass in the first try had a fair bit tom do with it too. We didn't do too much wrong, he just throew a nice ball which got Jennings on the outside of Manu and we were gone from there

Probably for Teddy, Keary and Vic.

              Lindsay back in too.

Depending on any other injuries of course.
I don't think Robbo would risk playing two rookies in the halves.

Lam could play a no.14 role with Robbo giving Keary an early shower if the scoreline warrants it. Lam could also cover dummy half if needed.

I think Radley could be the next "rotation".

Excellent ball by Brown, if it is off even slightly they dont score there...he is a very good young player

Not surprising that Teddy and Toups sat out training today.

I think Robbo will rest Teddy even if he is good to go. Robbo seems to have that extra level of concern for his players.

First thing that came to my mind when Flanno got beaten by Michael Jennings is that he needs to work on his defensive technique. I am also sure in the highlights package against the bulldogs the previous week, he dropped off a tackle, leading to open space and a downfield attacking raid by the opposition. Flanno is young- it can be fixed. Robbo would have certainly noticed that's an area they'll need to work on with him. As for Joey's defence being called into question, ask Brent Naden and Jarrod Crocker about his defensive technique. I reckon those guys wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat after their encounters with Mr Manu.

I think Teddy, Toups and Jake should sit this one out. B Moz to FB, Verrills to hooker, Hall on the wing and Aubs to centre, Collins on the bench.

need to play their best side barring injuries - don't give any team a sniff as they say- Tedesco would be the only one missing - so BMorris to fullback and Hall on the wing? - Toops/Radley ?

Whats with all this resting . If your best players are fit they play, it's only been 4 games.
the rooster are still building match fitness.
the eels game is just what we needed.
