  • Round 8 against the Storm

Very real possibility the game will now be played in Sydney and not in Melbourne as previously scheduled, the NRL has just told the Storm their round 7 game will be moved from Melbourne due to fears surrounding the increased cases of covid-19 in Victoria.

It appears as though that is the case now.

Just quietly we are now undefeated at Bankwest.

Prefer Bankwest but they will move it to Kogarah.
Doesn't make much difference we should still win comfortably, the Storm haven't adjusted to the new rules.

The new rules are great because they penalise negative behaviour rather than opening to door to interpretation.

Storm/Raiders' 5 man strip is still the biggest piece of horseshyte that has ever happened and it was all because they made a rule change that was a solution in search of a problem (some Tigpies player got pinged against us in obscure circumstances so they made a minor tweak, then accepted the Storm's interpretation that 'ANYTHING' goes... even if there's a hand on the ball, which is separately banned).

This change is way better. You slow down the ruck and we're calling 6 again!!! Shoulda happened 10-15 years ago instead of all these fukking tweaks to account for every separate wrestling move. Instead you say 'suuuure you can do it... but you run the risk of the tackle count being reset if all you do is slow down the ruck!!!'

Love to see Bellamy adjust to this one coz there's only one way... 'don't coach players to slow down the ruck, instead coach them to play positively'.

Before that I think we've got round 7 against the Dragons to worry about...

Take that a step further and make a ruck infringement on the first tackle a kick penalty either for field position or a goal. I see soo many first tackle resets and thats almost pointless.

Im not sure these score blowouts, since the rule changes came in, are going to keep people interested. There have been some massive points differences which detracts from the spectacle. IMO, a close hard fought game (a cliffhanger) is much more viewer friendly and interesting.

Hip hip hooray, why should those stains on the game enjoy homeground advantage over the rest of the comp. I don’t mind Parramatta on the other hand , let them enjoy Bankwest as it’s the only thing they’ll enjoy because they’re not winning the premiership as long as we’re in it.

It would be awesome if we get to play this at SCG instead of Westbank given that the grounds are set to open 1 July at 25% capacity....

There is talk that the storm could take their games to Suncorp. It wouldn’t surprise me if our game was played there to avoid any Roosters advantage. If the Storm want to ensure we have zero advantage maybe they should request the game be played in Gosford!

V'landys said this morning that the Storm will be based in QLD indefinitely after this weekend so I guess our game against them will be at Suncorp.
